1  Gertie's portrait blouse with an FBA in Clothing for Curvaceous Craftsters: Completed Projects by justchelsea on: April 03, 2013 09:21:52 AM
Hey all!  I received the book "Gertie's New Book for Better Sewing" as a birthday gift, and decided for my first project I'd try the portrait blouse.  Since I have big boobs, I did a full bust adjustment-my first.  I used some funky vintage polyester from my fabric stash.

2  Put a Bird On It! in Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General by justchelsea on: March 08, 2013 01:35:53 PM
When not swapping, I'm currently plowing my way through my fabric/notions stash.  I've become a bit of an estate sale addict of late and I need to use stuff or my sewing cave is going to look like an episode of "Hoarders" soon.

I made this little bag out of some fabric scraps.  The branch is my first attempt at an applique.  I used some ultrabond paper backed fusible and a scrap of tan fabric.  The ultrabond says it's permanent as is without sewing.

Isn't the owl sitting on the branch awesome?  I have a few of them.  They were on little cards saying "You'd be wise to check out our loans! XYZ Savings and Loan".  After years in a damp basement, I didn't trust Mr. Owl's adhesive anymore, so I glued him down with some fabric glue.

I'm pretty happy with it, but I wish I'd made the design lower on the flap and the whole thing BIGGER!!  I used a pattern from a purse book, and this is not a mom-sized bag.

3  Re: Adult Only Swap Round 7 (Send out Feb. 11) GALLERY! in The Swap Gallery by justchelsea on: February 27, 2013 07:44:15 AM
I just got this awesome package from Annchen!  Please excuse the crappy cellphone pics, my camera is MIA.

I can't wait to try these love cuffs  Grin

I adore this leg tickler!

Other goodies: A delicious smelling massage bar, some massage oil, some cute band-aids, and some Swedish candy!

Not pictured because my husband already ran off with it- Grin A nice crocheted toy storage bag filled with "inspirational" words.  I wonder what he's planning...lol.

This was so much fun for a noob.  You've created a new swap addict!  Grin

4  Bottlecap pendant work in progress in Trinkets and Jewelry: Discussion and Questions by justchelsea on: June 04, 2010 09:19:27 AM
Hey all.  After going through hell in our lives, my family has finally come out the other side and I've begun to feel creative again.   I'm working on an idea for making pendants out of used bottle caps.  The insert is friendly plastic, melted and stamped, with a vintage rhinestone in the center, sealed with crystal lacquer.  Apologies for the lousy cellphone photo.  What do you think?

5  Recycled holiday stuff centerpiece in Completed Projects by justchelsea on: December 02, 2007 05:15:39 PM
Hi all.  I can't believe it's been two years since I last logged in here! Shocked  I've finally started to feel crafty again after a loooong creative drought.
Before we were married, my husband would decorate with these worn looking glass balls he scavenged from his old office when the company closed.  Guys just don't seem to get the need for nice, shiny decorations..... Tongue  Anyway, this year I decided to "recycle" them with an idea I borrowed from an episode of Martha Stewart Living (although she'd probably not call my project "a good thing" Grin ).  I took a foam cone shaped base from the floral aisle of my local craft place, and glued the balls on in a random pattern.  I filled in the empty spots in between the balls with a ratty old garland cut into bits and stuck an old bow on top.  I broke a few of the balls while working on this.  Then my husband told me to stop busting his balls.
