21  Space Invader Hat in Knitting: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: July 13, 2006 09:34:13 AM
I've been practicing colour work lately (I still suck but I'm working on it) and I happened across these space invader charts and I thought it'd make a sweet hat. They're kind've weird looking, especially the 2 yellow ones but like I said, I'm still working on this whole intarsia thing.

(excuse the tired look. I have a summer class that starts at 8am and it's not fun!)

Suggestions for improvement much appreciated! Smiley

22  My first earrings in Beads: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: June 06, 2006 09:11:28 AM
So I've had beading supplies and everything forever but I never actually sat down and made anything. So, I finally tried my hand at making some earrings. They're all super simple because I don't really know how to do anything complicated.

From left to right, top to bottom.
1. Hoopy ones with cute little cat-eye like beads
2. Lots of seed beeds on eye pins (I think) -- these took forever.
3. Hoopy ones with green beads, kinda look like planets.
4. White seed beads, jump rings and star charms
5. orange seed beads and jump rings (They are really the same length, one just go caught behind the stand)
6. Green beads and jump rings
7. green leaf charms with chains and a small heart at the end
8. Purple seed beads and jump rings
9. black and red seed beads with star charms

The white ones I just finished last night and they're my favourite so far

Action Shot!

Thanks for looking! Smiley

23  Stitch Markers - added closeups! **image heavy** in Knitting: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: June 06, 2006 09:03:55 AM
I made a bunch of sets of stitch markers. They're kind've hard to see in this picture but it was even harder to get close ups of them that weren't blurry. (definitely time to get a new digicam).

 From left to right
1. set of 6 feathers

2. set of 6 stars

3. set of 5 mushrooms or umbrellas (I can't decide what they are)

-- sorry, couldn't find this set when I was taking the new pictures.

4. set of 5 gold coins

5. 5 with one head, pink and purple plastic butterflies

6. set of 5 silver butterflies

And since I originally posted I made two new sets:

My friend and I had a booth at a recent craft show and I had them there but most people didn't know what they were. I don't think it was exactly the right crowd for crafting supplies. Oh well, learned something for next time.

Let me know what you think Smiley

24  Re: Circular Shrug / Vest - Scale Model - TUTORIAL in Knitting: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: March 08, 2006 12:07:45 PM
Wow, I was one of the first people to start this in the knitalong and I'm FINALLY putting a picture up. It did take me a lot longer to finish it than I thought it would just because I kept getting bored of it. But I finished it a couple months ago. It's just Red Heart acrylic and it was awful when I first finished it but I threw it in the wash with some downy and it came out super duper soft. AND it's machine washable which is sweet.

**sorry about the messy apartment and the random kitten... I was taking a picture of the whole outfit to show my friend**

25  Cowl with buttons in Knitting: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: March 08, 2006 12:01:54 PM
It's been a super long time since I've posted, not that I haven't been productive. I've just been too busy to take any pictures and post them! So here we go, a little cowl thing I made the other day while avoiding writing a paper... I've been doing some major stashbusting so this is just a leftover skein of homespun in some pink/red colourway and some cute little wooden buttons.

26  Re: panta! (from a finnish pattern). in Knitting: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: March 08, 2006 11:59:17 AM
I had to jump on the bandwagon and voila!

I just used some Red Heart I had laying about because I won't let myself buy new yarn until I use up all this damn acrylic! I'm going to end up with acrylic pantas in every colour possible....

27  Re: Official Kittyville hat in Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller by piratekittie on: September 26, 2005 09:36:02 PM
I love yours! Mine isn't as cute... The pink makes it look like a pig instead of a kitty, and it doesn't help that I placed the ears wrong... Maybe I should add a snout. Hmm...

28  Re: TARGET HAS $1 YARN (not just kits!) in Knitting: Discussion and Questions by piratekittie on: September 26, 2005 09:32:26 PM
FYI I am making a shawl out of the butterscotch colored yarn holding 2 strands together as I crochet & there are big differences in yardage of every skein I have used so far. So if you are making something that needs a specific amount you may want to buy 1 extra just in case.

Any other completed projects?

I've made a hat using the gold/brown eyelash & a strand of beige together.....very cute

2 skinny long scarfs out of the rainbow and another out of the lime green/yellow boucle

I just finished a long skinny scarf from the green/yellow boucle Smiley 10 stitches on size 13's. IT's about 85 inches long plus 9 inches of fringe on each end. And I didn't even use a full skein... I was surprised.

29  Re: YARN DYEING 101 - KOOL AID in Dyeing: Completed Projects by piratekittie on: September 26, 2005 09:24:51 PM
I finally dyed some yarn!

This was my first attempt... Just one colour. It was tropical punch I think.

And this is the one i JUST did (while avoiding my annotated bibliography. yuck) It's still drying right now and I'm super excited for it Smiley I used Flavoraid Grape and Raspberry.

Sorry the colours don't really show up properly...
