1  New Necklace for Summer in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by piratekittie on: June 24, 2010 08:53:30 AM
For some reason I woke up at 6:30am this morning, definitely not normal for me! So I decided to use my time effectively and create something lovely. This is my new summer necklace. It's made from glass, coral, stones, pearls, and turquoise chips. I'm loving color right now... Enjoy!

This is just a fraction of the stuff I've been working on this month. Jewelry making fell to the background for a long time but in the last couple weeks I've been very much back into it! Here are a few pieces I managed to snap photos of....

Gold circle necklace

Feather and filligree earrings, accented with crystals

Silver necklace accented with red feathers and freshwater pearls

Beaded cat collars for a friend

Comments welcome! x.

3  Wire Wrap Bracelets in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by piratekittie on: May 19, 2010 05:39:09 PM
Wow I've been super MIA from the Craftster boards! Well, i've been busy busy busy making things. These are my latest obsession, wire wrap bracelets. So addictive to make because I just get to play with colors and textures! They take far longer than expected, but the end result is totally worth it. The pictures were taken with my phone so not the best quality but I wanted to share! Smiley

First: blues and purples with gold accents. Glass, wood, pearl, stone, turquoise, metal

Second: reds and oranges with gold accents (I'm loving the bellydance, Middle Eastern vibe). Glass, wood, stone, pearl, coral, metal

Third: pinks and blacks with silver accents. Glass, wood, stone, pearl, coral, metal

Comments please! x.

4  Some things I've Been Working On -- Picture Heavy!! in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by piratekittie on: September 03, 2007 10:37:53 AM
Ok so I haven't been posting too much lately. Things have just been crazy with school and moving and work and everything else. SO, here's a little preview of what I've been working on this summer.

I've been working with these circles and making super classic, mod looking necklaces:

This is the one I wear almost on a daily basis now because it goes with everything (sorry only picture I had of it was from me out at a bar)

Thanks for looking!!

Another super simple one with cool filigrees and pink chain. I liked the brass and pink combo that day.

This is definitely one of my favourite ones. Shooting stars with a little crown. I made one similar to this but with music notes, sorry no pics of that one.

Fanciful sea creatures - this one's a pain to photograph but there are 5 layers, 3 sea turtles, a dolphin, a shell and a starfish.

I <3 Music Necklace:

This is the most recent necklace I made - I love it except the cameo is a faux thing and doesn't have the right weight to it in my opinion so I need to find something to replace it. But I love love love the birdcage, it's sterling silver and there's even a teensy tiny bird cutout inside. It's translucent and impossible to photograph but oh so cute.

The Ultimate Scene Kid Charm Bracelet. Kind've hard to see all the different charms but there are music notes, hearts, stars, skulls, bikes, etc.

I made a bunch of earrings like these with different crazy little wood dudes. These are just a couple different ones

5  Pricing help please! Too expensive?? in Get Product and Website Opinions by piratekittie on: July 16, 2007 10:02:15 AM
I've been into jewelry for awhile but I've never really made necklaces before. I was inspired by Anthropologie and some boutiques in London - they all charged a LOT of money so I figured I could make them myself. Now I'm wondering if my pricing is too high as well...

I've priced them all in the $30-$40 range. Most of my cost is in materials. Some of them take longer to make than others but even then not usually more than an hour on each one. Plus I'll work on it, put it down for awhile, change things, take it apart, etc. I looked around on Etsy for similar necklaces it really really varies. The ones at Anthro are easily over $100 but c'mon, it's Anthro and as much as I love them they're always kind've ridiculous with pricing. And theo ones I saw in London were all much closer to $100 too...

Any opinions??
Thanks

6  Charm Necklaces, Mummy & Devil Earrings, Hat Earrings... PIC HEAVY in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by piratekittie on: July 13, 2007 06:01:54 AM
I've been making a whole lot of very Anthro-esque necklaces lately. Huge obsession with crowns and cameos and such so I've been playing around with some stuff.

This is the first one I made. 21st bday present for my friend. It's a few weeks late but it's ok, she'll get it eventually. A crown with 3 music notes and cherries.

The ultimate in romanticism - cameo, heart-shaped locket and all strung a pink chain you can't see in the pic.

More crowns!

This one is just chockful of stuff - owl, skull, crown, key, faux padlock thing, and mini locket

Again, crowns. I mentioned I had a mild obsession, right?

Probably the simplest necklace I've made. The beads are really nice colour though.

And on the opposite end of the spectrum, the craziest one. I know it's super busy and totally over the top but I think that's why I like it.

I also found this great stash of buttons so I've been making cute, kitschy little rings. They're soooo addictive!! I've been making stud earrings too, just no pictures yet.

And then of course, there are always earrings. Lots and lots of earrings. I have a lot more that need to be photographed.

I just love these little hat ones. I made red pair for my Mom for her Red Hat Society gatherings.

These tiny little baskets are handwoven in Northern Thailand. It's crazy, they're sooo tiny!! Each one is BARELY half an inch big.

And these little guys were just adorable and crying to be made into earrings. Smiley

Thanks for looking! Let me know what you think Smiley

9  Re: Clapotis from Knitty in Knitalongs by piratekittie on: April 29, 2007 07:41:49 AM
Almost 3 years later and I'm finally jumping on the bandwagon....

I have 200g of red alpaca to use:

I have no idea how much yardage there is but I figure I'll just wing the size as I go. I think it's going to be one of those yarns that's a huge pain in the ass to drop the stitches but I'm prepared for a challenge.

Hopefully I'll get started tonight Smiley
