When I was young, my grandmother would make these little animals and decorations for me to play with. I think that is how my love for crafts started. I lost or broke a lot of them, but this turtle is one tough cookie and has stayed with me for my whole life:

Sorry, there won't be a tutorial, because it is very difficult to make :[

Thanks!

3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Peace Ball on: February 05, 2007 08:55:41 AM
My aunt in Taiwan taught me how to make these. You could even buy pre-cut, scored circles for this specific purpose!

They can be hung on doorknobss or just around the house.

Thanks!

4  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Lotus Flowers on: February 05, 2007 08:39:59 AM
I made these little lotus flowers from paper:

They can be hung around the house, on doorknobs and such Smiley

5  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Simple Earrings on: February 05, 2007 08:32:55 AM

I happened to have some simple findings in a little kit of mine and some beads. They're just long stiff posts. I lost the other black and red earring =/

These are made with Swarvoski crystal beads, a metal bead, and little 'chains', so that they dangle.

These were also made with Swarvoski crystal beads and little chains, but I don't know where I got the rune stone piece Smiley

Thanks!
6  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Edited: Straw Shrimp! on: February 04, 2007 08:56:05 PM
These are my signature craft trinket. I make these straw shrimp all the time and I give them to everyone I like. I taught them as a short lesson/presentation in class five years ago, when I first figured out how to make them and I've continued teaching them as an activity for the animal rights group I started at school Smiley

Edit: They turn out quite nicely when they're made of transparent or striped straws Smiley

I like that they only require a single drinking straw, a pair of scissors, and no glue, tape, or anything of that sort Smiley
7  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / Straw Stars! on: February 04, 2007 08:52:57 PM
I like making stars, of all sorts, but they tend to end up somewhat useless.  They're made of a special kind of super long and thin straw of all colours, transparent, glow in the dark, cream, opaque...
The technique took me some time for me to perfect, roughly a decade ago, but after making hundreds of them, they're like second nature Wink

Here's a close up.

I make bottles upon bottles of them, but I don't know what to do with them. They're not easy to thread into a bracelet or necklace, unless the thread is through the middle, but that doesn't look very good when strung together. I usually just toss a bunch into a box along with a gift.

Help?
8  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Lace Gloves on: February 04, 2007 08:36:31 PM

This is the front of the lace glove that I made. The 'glove' part was actually made from a pair of little girl stockings that were super cheap at Wal-Mart. They even have little hearts on them Wink

And the back...

Again, I don't have a sewing machine, so I had to do it by hand. I don't know if a sewing machine would have really been very helpful either.
9  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Lace Wrist Warmer on: February 04, 2007 08:34:16 PM

The lace wrist warmer was handmade by me. Unfortunately, I don't have a sewing machine, so I had to sew it by hand. =/
10  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Black & Red Tulle Skirt on: February 04, 2007 08:31:44 PM

The tulle petticoat skirt is handmade by me. Unfortunately, I don't have a sewing machine, so I had to sew it by hand...
Tank top and jersey dress were purchased at Sirens.
