This here spot will be where I display all the sweet awesomeness that gothchics will have bestowed upon me. Tongue

FINALLY!!!  I am posting pics!!  Here is all the totally rad stuff I got from Gothchics.  I love EVERYTHING she made for me.  It's all so well done, I can totally tell she put a lot of time into each and every little thing she made.  Goth, you're my new swap bff!

Here's everything under our pink tree.  Not out 'real' xmas tree, but a cool one nonetheless.

Day Eleven:  Crocheted food!!  I love it!  Yum Yum!

Day Ten:  Randoms

Four hand towels, three hot pads (that EXACTLY match my kitchen curtains), kawaii silverware, and a super sweet set of resin alphabets!!  Glittery too!!  I've never gotten resiny stuff before, bit it is waaaaaay cool!

A set of magnetic spice tins

letters close up...

hot pads...

Day Eight:  Coffee Day AKA: Sanity Day
Cute lil bucket, a coffee cuff (that I've wanted for soooo long), a different kind of coffee cup-the adjustable kind.  It's purple, but you can't see it. Sad  5 packs of yummy flavored coffee, super cute and tiny tea and saucer set, and a uh, melted snowman...

Day Seven:  Birdie Day
I got a set of AWESOME birdie stuffies in sweet colors, a birdie painted paper mache wall hanging, birdie pendant and necklace, and a freakin' awesome acrylic window hanger!!  I love this thing!  And I have a new found love for acrylic!  It took me forever to figure out that you have to peel off the paper on the stuff!  Duh! Roll Eyes

Day Six:  Amazing Amigurumi Day!
The loot:  three reusable bags for small ami projects, ami hello kitty that is super duper awesome, six balls of yarn, two skeins of yarn, a bag of fiber fill, a set of sock blockers (awesome acrylic again).

Not Pictured:  Ana Paouli Rimoli's Amigurumi book.  And the Hello Kitty jar goes with the next day...

I was looking for something like this just the day before I opened this...

This area is reserved for postings of the adventures of Donovan Domo and Pixikins the cotton candy bear!!

Here is Donovan gettin' ready for his cross-country trip:

He travels pretty light-hobo bag, some candy, and his sign.  He was worried he might have to hitch hike some of the way.

Oh, and Shelichan-Donovan is quite the ladies man.  He likes the uh, 'adult oriented magazines'.  Just keep them away from him and you'll be fine.  Thought I'd give you a heads up.

Here's Pixikins, right after she got here.

After she slept off her long trip, she got hungry and raided the fridge.

The only thing she found was lefse (lef-sah).  I think she liked it, there was none left!

Later that day, Pixikins made herself at home and decided to play a  little Gears of War.  I think she did better than the BF!  hehe.

Then she found a book to read.  I told her that Twilight was like crack, but she couldn't stay away!!  I also had to tell her that Edward is my other boyfriend, but she could have Jacob.  So hands off Pixi!! Roll Eyes

By the end of the day, she was feeling brave enough to meet some of the other members of the house.  Here's Daisy saying hello.

Hanging out with the cool kids.  They were fascinated with all of Pixikins stories from the big city!

The next morning, it was kinda cold....

...So Pixi thought it would be a good idea to get warmed up in the dryer....Hmmmm....

Later on, she wanted to get out of the house and breathe in some of that country air.  I am a geek.

Last night, I thought I heard some music and stuff coming from downstairs.  I thought it was just Pixi watching tv or something.  So I brushed it off....This was what I woke up to this morning...

Needless to say, she was a little hungover, so I tried to help her feel better.  Coffee cures everything!!

Here's Pixi with the BF.  She was asking me why he looks so mad, I told her I think it has something to do with her being better at Gears of War than the BF is.  Hah! Wink

More adventures coming soon....

Ok, so I was having a chat with Mr. Sebastian Monkey about his upcoming trip to New York and he started freaking out.  Pretty bad too, he started hyperventilating and sweating, he went totally neurotic.  It was horrible.  So I had a looooong talk with his best friend Donovan Domo and he agreed to go in place of Sebastian.  He thinks he'd be more photogenic than Sebastian anyways.  Some friend!! Wink  Come to find out Sebastian is afraid of pigeons and big cities.  I don't think he would have been much fun to hang out with during his visit.  Donovan is much more outgoing!!  So here's a pic of my new, stand-in little visitor: Donovan Domo

and yes, he approved this pic before I posted it.

4  Halloween Yard Contest Entry in Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Completed Projects by beckster on: October 31, 2008 08:19:08 PM
Here is my entry for the Halloween Yard decorating contest.  I have no idea where I should have posted these, so I hope they get submitted for entry.  We made the fence from scratch, which was a way bigger project than we thought once we started.  The corn stalks in the background came from my parent's garden and the hands in the ground I recently received in a swap.  I added the black birds to the tombstones, they weren't there originally.  I hope you like my yard enough to vote for me!!

Here it is, the whole thing

A little closer

Some dead guy in my cemetery

A pic through the cemetery fence, which me and the bf made from scratch!

Better shot of the fence

Spider and stuff

Hands coming up out of the ground.  Spooooooky

You can't see much at night, but at least you can see the jack o lanterns and the lights in the bushes.

A Halloween wreath I made for the front door.

Here is my little visitor.  He's never been out of the house before, so he's a little nervous.  I don't have a name for him yet, any suggestions?  I was thinking Sebastian...

Oh, and do any of you know how to make that bone?  Missmoppet said she got it from a Japanese craft book and chart/graphs are not really my thing!  It would be much appreciated!

9  Brand new afghan by a brand new crocheter!! in Crochet: Completed Projects by beckster on: August 13, 2008 01:34:42 PM
K, so here's the deal.  I had been wanting to learn how to crochet for a few years now and I finally had someone to show me the ropes.  After making countless amigurumis, I decided I needed to try and make a afghan.

I just picked this pattern and went with it.  I was able to get some cool colors of yarn on clearance and that's how I picked the colors.  I thought crochet afghans didn't take that long, or so I had heard!  HAH!  Well, it only took me about a month or two.  I wasn't working on it every night like I should have been doing!!

So, I then got to thinking that I should enter it in our local fair.  Which I did.  And I won first place.  Sweet!!  Well, they had to give me first since I was the only one who entered in a ripple afghan. Tongue But I won three bucks and I was happy. Cool

I would like to add that I've been crocheting since May, so for only a few months now, and this is the biggest thing I have ever made.  Ever.  For myself.  And it's crocheted.  I am pretty proud of it and all my hard work.  I think I'll be keeping this one.  Smiley

Here she is in all her glory.  I think she's about 5 1/2 feet long and 4 or 5 feet wide.  I don't remember....

Here's a close up so you can see the colors better.  Don't look too close to the stitches. AHH!
