11  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Discussion and Questions / does the transfer washout? on: July 18, 2007 05:46:07 PM
After you finish stitching a piece, does the iron on transfer wash out, or do you have to follow the lines carefully to make sure they don't show?

Does a transfer pencil wash out?

12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Voo-Doo Doll Pincushion on: June 24, 2007 08:07:53 PM
My mom is hard to get gifts for. She has everything she needs or wants.

She likes to sew her own clothes and make quilts, so I made her a new pincushion.

I'm pretty sure she wont already have one like this  Cheesy
13  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / what is mercerized cotton used for? on: June 17, 2007 04:41:49 PM
I bought some 100% mercerized cotton at a garage sale, but I don't know how to use it. Is it only for doilies? I don't want a doily, so I'm hoping to get some ideas from you guys.

Maybe it is used for embroidery.
14  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / octopi for charity on: June 05, 2007 08:29:53 AM
I was told about the need for toys at the local battered women's shelter. I made a few octopi because they are fast and easy and helped me lighten my stash a bit. I hope they help the kids who have to live at the shelter.

Here are the ones I've made so far..

15  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Trash ATC's (or does "Recycled ATC's" sound better?) on: May 19, 2007 07:54:17 PM
I think it would be fun for us to make an ATC out of trash. No store- bought paint, stamps, paper or anything else. Just good ol' free trash!

I guess we would probably need to use store-bought glue. Smiley

This group could make beautiful art with items that would normally be thrown away.

What do you think?

16  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / How many ATC's do you have? on: April 25, 2007 08:44:35 AM
I am curious to know how many ATC's people have.

Are the majority of them made by you or are they made by others?
17  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / 4 ATC's......Queen, Tree, Mask , Abstract on: March 28, 2007 06:01:31 PM
Here are some cards I recently made.....pictures aren't the best quality.

The left card is paper, clay and jute. The other is paper with a flat bead. These have both been traded.

The Tree card is paper. I cut each leaf and petal out individually! The "Queen" is paper on a playing card, postage stamp and sequins. The Queen has been traded.

Thanks for looking.
18  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: General / Winter tree and snow flakes with rhinestones painted on shirt on: February 12, 2007 03:33:21 PM
Inspired by the Indiana weather.....dead, gray and snowy.

I hand painted the tree and snowflakes with a sharpie, acrylic paint with textile medium and fabric paint. Then I used my bedazzler to add the rhinestones to the snowflakes. There are 3 snowflakes on the back shoulder and 1 on the sleeve.

It looks more realistic and detailed than the pic shows, but you get the idea.

I like it. I have gotten some nice compliments on it when wearing it.
19  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Suggest New Boards and New Features / Can you search for an age listed in profiles? on: April 15, 2006 07:02:12 AM
Is there any way to search for projects by the age of the person who made them?

I am 44 and enjoy looking at ALL of the great crafts on Craftster no matter who made them, but not everything is age appropriate. I'd like more inspiration from people in my generation.

Also, if this type of search is possible, would more people consider posting their age? Please.
20  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / crochet purse and a small dog dress (sweater?) Bigger pics now. on: March 27, 2006 05:56:51 PM
Here is a purse I made from some scrap yarn I had. I added checked lining and the ties that keep it closed have striped beads on them. It didn't cost anything except for the 2 beads.

And here is one of many dresses (sweaters?) I have made for my new puppy. She seems to get cold easily, so I have had fun making all different colors of dresses for her.

This is my first post with pictures. I hope I did this right.
