51  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / Where To Find Things To Recycle / Re: FREECYCLE.ORG on: May 12, 2005 12:09:14 PM
i'm in Clintonville (ok, really north campus-osu) and i work downtown.  i think there may be more than one freecycle in columbus.  are you guys in yahoo groups or somewhere else?

that's hilarious...  it was the columbus, ohio (pre-you moderating) freecycle that i got little elsa cat from.  while i'm forever thankful, i definitely thought the animal thing was getting out of hand.  (i got her back in october).  maybe i'll join up again, now that i'm not running the risk of turning my home into an animal shelter!

i got my sweet kitty through freecycle.  if you're a lover of animals, be careful, as many people try to place strays through these groups.  i removed myself from the group after cat #1, just to be safe!
55  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: PUNK STYLED ROOM *its sissy girl right now* PLEASE NEED IDEAS on: May 11, 2005 11:48:08 AM
you could paint the base color (green, I think is what you wanted) and then get a thick Sharpie or a foam paintbrush and black paint and write song lyrics on the wall.  if you have access to any scratched up/ unplayable records, you could nail them up close to the ceiling to make a border.
i 2nd flea's suggestion on patti smith (and the rest).  get a hold of "gloria", crank it up and see what ideas pop into your head.

K, jsut read most of this thread, and as much as i dont want to bitch.....Y do you have to label yourself, to be honest there is no true category, no ones actually punk, or whatever, its just a label peope get claimed as, or you claim your self as

just wondering, could the user name "punkiee_junkiee" be construed as a self-inflicted label?...or am I missing something?
57  COOKING / Vegetarian / Vegan / Re: Vegan Lunch Ideas...oh and soup too on: May 09, 2005 01:09:13 PM
if you have a crockpot around, vegan chili is really easy (and cheap) to make.  basically, there's a million variations but I'll turn the crockpot on in the morning and throw in a couple cans of undrained stewed or diced tomatoes, a can of drained and rinsed black beans, canned or frozen corn, chopped onion, garlic and bell peppers, about 1/2 to 2/3 of a cup of textured vegetable protein (available at health food stores, local co-op, etc.) and cumin, chilli powder, and cayenne (if you like it hot).  I leave it on low all day while at work and come home to a delicious dinner.  if you have more time, sauteeing the garlic and fresh veggies beforehand might add to the flavor.

What about the tables?  You could arrange collages of pictures cut out from Sports Magazines and newspapers and seal them.  Then, lay down glass for the table surface.
