julsey723 - That looks so great! Thank you for sharing your pattern with us. I guess some yarn shopping is in my future.

I thought SolidKnapp's pattern looked great. There's no reason we can't all  knit-along with slightly differing patterns.

Yeah, I'm afraid we can't post the pattern from the book. It would be a violation of copyright and could get Craftster in trouble.

ooh, ooh-are you going to do it?

I am definitely going to make one, but it might be a bit before I get to it. I'd love to see how solidknapp's turned out.

This thread is long dead, but I just picked up the book Mother of Purl, which contains the so-called pattern for the Lost in Translation scarf. The yarn she specifies is Rowan Kid Classic, and the pattern looks a bit different to me, but that could just be the difference in lighting between the film and the photo in the book.

Nice work! It looks so great in black. I may have to make another one!

What a nice gift. Have you seen the "My So Called Scarf" pattern?

I found the instructions in the first Stitch n Bitch book quite helpful. You might want to start with a basic worsted weight yarn (I quite like the Lamb's Pride Worsted) and a needle like a US8. My first project was a ribbed scarf. It really got those knits and purls drilled into my brain. Good luck and have fun!

I purchased this book recently and just flew through it. What an interesting book!
