I'm an RA at ny school and I kind of volunteered to put on a program teaching people how to knit. I think I'm going to get a ton of chopsticks and the huge pounds of acrylic red heart yarn and rolling them into balls. I expect about 20 people to show up at this.
How would I go about teaching that many people how to cast on, go a basic garter stitch and then bind off to that amount of people? Has anyone done anything like that before? I have a few ideas, but I was just wondering what you all thought. Grin

Hi everyone!
I am making my dad a clock for x-mas and I want to make the face of the clock out of metal. Like take a small sheet of metal and throw a clock-making kit in there, throw some #'s on and hooray, it's a clock.

What is a good type of metal to use that is pliable, and that I could probably cut a hole in the middle for the clock kit? Thanks

What do you think a cool name for a knitting club would be?

I'm starting a knitting club, and i asked the vice president of student association if using the good old "stitch and bitch" thing was ok, and he said i would get a lot of flack from it from old official people.

someone said to me, "totally stitching" would be an awesome name. what do you suggest?

right now i'm making a messenger bag out of a cheap towel and some cute cotton fabric for lining. i'm doing the same for a cool little purse. will i have to change the needle on my mom's sewing machine? will a regular needle go through 2 layers of towel and 2 layers of cotton?

during winter break i was thinking about starting a diy club at my campus but i couldn't really think of anyone who would do it with me. then today, my boyfriend was in his broadcasting class and overheard 2 other girls with the same idea... so thats another project i'll be busy with...

has anyone started a diy club on campus or anywhere? what do u do? how did it come to be?

my best friend is having a baby; i just found out this morning, being the diy-er i am, i instantly thought i need to knit her something. the question is, is there a point to knitting her kid a sweater if they live in South Carolina? it is warm down there for most of the year.plus i'm pretty new at the whole knitting thing. should i just go with a blanket just to be on the safe side? or should i be daring and try to make... a sweater!

hi guys
I've begun knittinga few weeks ago and right now,i've done like 3 scarves but i was wondering, why is it that while i knit, i start with like, 15 stitches but somewhere along the way i end up with like 22? hahahah. what do i do? does this happen to anyone else? am i just that spaztic? help me! hehe thanks Grin
