Thanks!  Hope your brother likes his binder.  Would love to see a picture of your finished work. Smiley

The lampshade came from either Lowe's or WalMart... don't remember which... and then I added braid that I'm pretty sure came from JoAnn's.  Without the braid it just wouldn't have been the *perfect* shade for that lamp.

I like the clear ball at the top, too, especially the way you can see the room upside down in it.  Kinda goes with the lamp, no?

Thanks, grimmscreed. Hope this is helpful for you in the future.  Hope to see your take on it soon. Smiley

I found stacks and stacks of eight tracks in my grandmother's attic a few months ago. For some reason i couldn't bare to part with them. Now i know it was destiny! Thanks!
Have fun with it!  Mind the drilling, though.  I'm surprised I didn't hurt myself doing it without clamps.

Thank you, I Sew Cute and Taramor, for your replies.  Hope you get a chance to try the tutorial.  Don't be shy if you've got any questions.
6  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: A Rainbow of Stitches on: March 06, 2010 07:30:46 AM
I bought A Rainbow of Stitches yesterday and love it!  All of the motifs are great.  You can't help but look at them and image putting them together in different configurations.

Many of the cross stitch patterns are presented like Assisi work where the background is stitched and the design comes from what is not stitched, e.g. the white part of the pattern.  This gives the stitcher at least two ways to work the pattern: as presented, stitching the background, or stitching the white part for a different look and feel.

This book gets two thumbs up!  What a great book to add to a needlework library!

Thanks for all the nice comments.

TheBeezKneez, take the words and run with them.  Form them into something yours and enjoy the therapy of stitching them onto something permanent.

It's probably been said before, but I heard it first from a late friend.  Here are some words to live by when life isn't going as you want, or your roommate just drank all the milk, or the cat crapped in your fuzzy slippers:

This is an original design by me.  It's stitched 2 over 2 on an overdyed linen with ThreadWorkx floss.  It's about 14"wide x 10" high.

Awesome!  Can't wait to see it.

And congrats to your friend.  She's lucky to have such a great friend. Smiley
