81  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Re: Second Book on: March 15, 2006 06:37:40 AM
I love stuff on sale too! xD

Hmm... well, what I usually see on "professional books" are ribbons glued or sewn down the side (vertically down the book), or maybe a few ribbon or just one across the book to close it? That gets kind of boring cause you see it everywhere, but when you use nice materials like the paper you used, it doesn't really matter Cheesy If not then I guess we'll leave that to your own creativity!

Aww that's really pretty! I like the fabric (or is it paper?) you used. Good job Wink
What do you mean by "look more finished"? As in decoration?
84  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Discussion and Questions / confused on jap stab binding on: March 14, 2006 06:27:48 PM
I have a bunch of japanese stab binding tutorials but that's not exactly what I was looking for. I've seen around here before books you guys make that don't have the thread running along the height of the book. For instance:

So I'm confused about how to get the result on the left of the picture. Like, do you just compromise from the japanese stab binding? Do you not sew in certain parts?

Anyway, ribbon binding looks beautiful. Anyone care to share a tutorial for ribbon binding?

I've written down my resolutions for this week (I've got hols! Cheesy) and making a book was one of them. And the week's almost over! I need to get kickin xD

Thanks a bunch in advance!

Wow that's a great tutorial! Thanks Cheesy You used beautiful colours. The marbled effect reminds me of marbled cake Tongue

That technique is really very pretty! I never would have guessed you painted it yourself Wink I like the colours you used too, I'm sure your friend will like it. I hope he gets better soon!

That's your 2nd book?! You're extremely talented...I'd buy that book in a split second, it looks really quite lovely. I especially enjoy the bead detail you've added - gives it that extra something special!

Any tips for bookbinding?

Thanks Cheesy I was actually planning to sell books once I get the hang of it and I was wondering how much you would pay for it?

Hmm... tips? I just make sure everything is tight and secure with a lot of PVA glue Tongue

Wow Smiley!.  It looks so good.  I can't believe it's just your second one.  What got you interested in journal making?

Thank you! I think craftster itself got me interested in bookbinding. Cheesy But I always loved DIY stuff even as a kid and I had tons of books Cheesy
