1  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / attn: polymer clayers that sell stuff! on: September 24, 2008 04:03:33 PM
i was hoping i could get some advice from you guys or if you could share your experiences with me about selling handmade polymer clay beads at craft shows. i make jewelry with my polymer clay creations that i sell. however, i have noticed that a few people were interested in purchasing beads/pendants just by themselves. Has anyone else tried this? do individual beads sell well? also what were the prices ranges that you put on your beads and pendants?

thanks so much for any input!
2  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / bunches of mini drawstring bags in various fabrics on: July 15, 2008 03:45:51 PM
i had so much fun making these little drawstring bags. they are fully lined and have strings or ribbons for pulls. i made a bunch more matching ones that use as sand bags to weigh down my jewelry displays at craft shows, and they worked awesome!

Thanks for looking!
3  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / plaid madness! a laptop bag and a backpack on: June 04, 2008 10:16:55 AM
so these are my latest large (no pattern) sewing creations modelled by assistant/ little sister.

the laptop bag was a huge dissapointment because of some short sightedness on my part. my laptop fit in it PERFECTLY until i sewed in the zipper (which is the kind that doesn't open at the end). and so just barely my laptop won't fit! i seriously almost cried because i was so pleased with the bag and didn't realize that it wouldn't fit until i finished. so now i need a new laptop to fit my bag  Grin  the bag took forever as it has many layers of fleece for super padding that were a huge pain to sew (especially the zipper)
on to the pics!

expandable pocket for my cords.. i made a mushroom button out of polymer clay and put on it but the stem of the mushroom later broke off  Sad

now for my plaid back pack, that took forever... i'm pretty happy with it but i really wished i had used interfacing its a bit to floppy/slouchy.

a bit to big for a second grader! (good thing its for me  Wink)

thanks for looking!
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / My bright purpley jacket on: January 03, 2008 02:29:07 PM
So i made my first jacket a while ago but i just recently took pics of it. The bright crazy fabric is actually from a awesome skirt that i found at goodwill i bought it because i loved the pattern but it was quite unflattering as a skirt so now its part of my jacket. The solid purple sleeves and lining is from a sheet i had when i was little. the black fabric is from a knit shirt that i had. so it is all recycled materials! (except for the zipper)
Smiley i was pretty pleased with it turned out, its one of the only sewing projects i've done that i have liked enough to wear out of the house haha

enjoy!

i accidently made the hood to small, so i added fabric and now its way to big, but i was to lazy to change it again.  Cheesy

5  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / Clay hairsticks on: January 03, 2008 02:14:44 PM
Hello!
here are some hairsticks i have that i didn't sell over the summer. i make alot of polyclay jewelry but for some reason i never take pics. i'm thinking i remember why though now that i've uploaded the pics. i can never take good close-ups the colors always come out strange, like in these they look bluish.
Oh well, i'm going to share them anyhow  Smiley

they are just clay covered wood kabob type sticks that i cut down to a good hairstick size.

i frequently do the little curly tops on the ends like in these on my hairsticks, do you guys have any suggestions for other cute ways to top them off?

thanks for looking  Smiley
6  REUSING/RECYCLING/RECRAFTING / What the heck can I do with THIS? / embroidery floss on: October 08, 2007 12:06:41 PM
i was wondering if you guys had any ideas for what to use embroidery floss for other than the usual embroidering frabic/friendship bracelets. i'm not really into the needlework stuff i'm to much of an instant gratification kind of craftster! i have two big bags of the floss stuffed with all different colors.
Any ideas or suggestions would be really appreciated!
thanks!

Hi,
Just this past summer i had alot of fun with local craft fairs. I had a booth at woodland Christian Church Art fair, The Artist Market and Museum-Go-Round (which i will be to old to do next year unfortunately.) I was wondering if you guys had any suggestions for some other craft booth type events in the Lexington region?
I am trying to plan ahead for the upcoming season, any tips, questions, or suggestions would be very appreciated!
thanks!
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / colorful wallet on: October 20, 2006 11:32:27 AM
so i made this wallet a little while ago from a tutorial posted on here, i can't remember which one but i'm sure it would be easy to find thanks to the new awesome tutorial lists! i got this awesome canvasy fabric at a yard sale so i didn't back the fabric with anything to make it stiffer.

my wallet has been getting good use!

thanks! comments appreciated!
