1  Re: Help Me With Paint Color and Wallpaper! in Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions by josita on: March 05, 2009 03:03:00 PM
You have so much drama in your bedding and cool accessories that I'd suggest keeping the walls a little calmer - say, a lighter version of the color of the locket and key on the poster. Consider painting a scalloped border along the ceiling, picking up the curves in your bedding - something like this:

Also, there are tons of ideas in the thread on blank walls. Maybe the fabric-applied-with-starch alternative to wallpaper would be good, since you rent.

Not sure what you mean by "invisible shelves." Do you want shelves for knickknacks, accented by the paper mache? Do you want shelves within a paper mache mushroom? Or do you just want to hang paper mache pieces?

I made a cloth mache wall sconce: graham cracker boxes cut into a flat-sided cone, covered with pieces of white-glue-soaked old sheet, then painted. I looped a wire through the back and hung it up just like a picture.

The cool thing about cloth mache is that it's lightweight but sturdy. The art may fall off the wall, but no one gets hurt - and neither does the art.
