41  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: "scrubby" material to crochet, NOT that mesh stuff? on: September 29, 2010 02:51:52 PM
What's that look like? I'm not seeing it!

Yay, I'm glad you like them! I was in such a rush to send I didn't write a note! I noticed too late that the bottom of the stamp curves downward so to get a good print you have to really jam on that end without letting the rest of it move around. An angry letter to Speedball is in the works.
Oh, and it cracks me up that the Feegles have no use for the gold after they get it, so that's why I included the "dinner plates" lol.

Now DH wants me to make a ton of them, and a god Om, and on and on...

It was intended to be used to wrap foods to keep them fresh in the freezer. It's not around a whole lot, and many stores don't even carry it. I assume that's because it's kind of obsolete now with the nice freezer ziploc bags.

I have a scrubby I got in one of those holiday gift baskets that you give someone you don't know what to get - you know, bottle of bath gel, bottle of lotion, pouf or scrubby, conveniently placed in a basket with filler and shrink-wrapped? It's got some sort of twine or something knitted on the front of it, and the back is terry cloth. I love it but it's falling apart now. I crochet soap saver sacks from cotton yarn and I'm thinking if I hold some twine stuff together with the yarn I can make them super exfoliatey, but I'm not sure what to use. Like would one of those balls of hemp or stuff you find in the jewelry-making aisle work? Would it fall apart? Start to rot? Anyone have experience with this kind of thing?

I had to start over on one of my items because it just wasn't working out. So that one is about 90% done, just sitting around in pieces. The other is finished and ready to go out. I will definitely be mailing everything today, though!

That's EXACTLY what I want to make for my newbie due in Jan! I want to do hot pink and black though. Thanks for the link to the pattern.
