It has space for the pattern, ad pockets for threads or other notions. You can tie the ribbon around your scissor to prevent loosing them and the embroidery fabric goes in the big pocket (here it's a black aida with a half finished dragon poking underneath) I will have to write down a tutorial becase my cross stitch group wants to sew them all together, right now I have to give them the dimensions of all the pieces so they can start embroidering the various parts and then we will meet to assemble them.
My boyfriend really loves two things (well, except myself I hope) Stitch from disney's film Lilo and Stitch Apple computers
So for Christmas I decided to fuse the two things and give him a unique sleeve for his Powerbook with stitch on it!
The sleeve is all stitched by me using a kind of thin neoprene, the front has also a fake fur layer (no risk of catching fur in the zipper, I used short haired one) with felt eyes appliqued on top. On the back I embroidered the apple logo with "Contains the destruction weapon of experiment 627" (if you remember the movie, Stitch was experiment number 626, so my boyfriend must be the next one)
And here you see the sleeve with a laptop (not the right one, I used mine to make photos)
I really hope you like it, it's been a tough one!! And as always my computer has an old black bag...and I never make up my mind to do something for mine!
Here it is, I sewed it (well, to be honest my mother sewed it, I just gave directions because I was quite busy in that period) to bring it to our host. It was sewed in Italy (and some fabrics came from ebay from the USA i think) and brought to Venezuela from where I'm posting right now! I liked how it turned out, it has orange lining and an inner pocket with the ladies name embroidered on it. hope she likes it!
Well I study frogs...but still hadn't made a frog bag! That's unfair, so I decided to give it a go, even though it's difficult to make it look froggish.... This is what I managed to stitch in the end, it looks cute in my opinion but I'm not sure if it really is a frog! The long tongue acts as a closure: you can wrap it around the small button (that is a frightened ladybug!)
Modified to TRY and get the pic right...sorry for this!
Long long time since my last post,I haven't given up doing bags, I just gave up trying to post photos! Anyhow yesterday I stitched this small bag while watching TV and had to show it, It's made of a very soft white fur, while head and legs are just cut from felted wool.
The eyes are embroidered (I have a wonderful Singer that can embroider any small design), and the rest of the bag is in just one piece of fur and one of lining (hot pink obviously!). I also added teeth (not visible here, I'm sorry) and a big tongue. It's quite small and you can keep it close to you so it really is a no-robbing bag, so the name "hands off!!!".
I made it last night (stayed up till late to finish it...just couldn't go to bed otherwise). It's the one they were showing on quilter's news network, http://www.quiltingchannel.com/it's still online today (in video streaming) but I don't know how long it will last so have a look because the instructions are very clear.
I made lot's of mistakes, and it turned out smaller than I planned but anyhow I love it, the fabric is such a nice colour, and I had fun quilting it. I plan on doing a bigger one soon for my sister, you can zip open the strap and use it like a backpack. This is the lining, full of pockets and stuff (wanted to leave something inside to show how big it was but I think I have exagerated!
Here is another "old" bag, I've done it some months ago for a special friend
The stars are paper pieced, and I think a couple of the yellow fabrics were hand dyed. And all around the stars my mom did some fancy machine embroidery with metallic threads. And it looks like my friend apreciated it, she uses it often! Hope I finally learned the photo uploading trick
The eyes are embroidered, I downloaded the free pattern here http://www.craftster.org/pictures/uploads/27854/15-04-2005_19_46_42_0001.jpg and just transferred it to the memory card of my stitching machine. There is also a couple of scary eyes that I just have to try! Anyhow this design is very simple and you could just try it with felt. I also embroidered this for a friend of mine but it got a little messy..I planned for the design to be in the bottom corner but turned the hoop the wrong way round and it got up there...well, looks cute anyhow
I found your wonderful forum just a week ago, and already have to buy new ink cartridges for my printer: your tutorials and ideas are just great! I live in Italy, usually I do patchwork bags but a couple of days ago I saw the monster bags of cherrymix here and just had to try making one. While working on it it got changed a lot, had to turn it the other way round because it looked like Bart Simpson in purple with green hair instead of a monster with teeth..... So, here is my new bag, stitching it was just so fun, and it kept looking at me all the time Thanks for the feedback, I'm terribly sorry my photo was not visible here.
Third try: uploaded on crafster's space. I really hope this time it will work....else I wouldn't know what to do!
I also have some light blue fake fur, and with that one it should resemble even more Sully from Monster's Inc. ! Please tell me what you think of it, I really hope you can approve it!
