41  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Re: copyright rules at cons on: February 08, 2010 05:28:43 AM
it's probably like the rules on ebay, you can't call it by it's original name, if you just sell stuffies it's ok, but don't call or mark them as the character name... like on ebay, you can say i made this based on a character inside the auction, but you can't headline it as that character, if they are a fan, they'll know anyway right?
42  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: Can I avoid this? on: February 08, 2010 05:24:14 AM
you need a yarn holder... this happens when the ball spins while it unwinds, you can make one with a dowl or a coffee can... use an oldpurse, aslong as the ball can't roll around... this is why in most cases you either make your own ball that rolls and doesn't kink or you take the skein from the middle, but with the filet thread that's not an option

i saw somewhere that a girl made a form fitting morticia addams style white fishtail skirt out of an old damaged crochet bed coverlet... she reworked the diamond pattern and stitched it together... i need to brush up on my crocheting and make one too, it was gorgeous

Where other people see Old Lady Junk we see possibilities! I like the lace-up idea, there are a few runners in my stash that would lend themselves very well to that design!
my mom and i used to fight over my grandmas handmade ones (she passed on so unless we happen upon one we forgot about i have most of them), i usually win since her dog would rip them to shreds... those i don't dare alter, but i LOVE battenburg lace and crochet doilies... i can't walk out of an antigue store without a handfull lol if i can find it to show, i even made a mini backpack/purse out of some of both kinds... lol even my mom calls me an old lady... i just wasn't born in a time where these things are appreciated lol

yay... someone else who collects what i collect and does the same to them that i do lol i made a lace up the side dress out of two matching table runners (they were wider than average) and a skirt out of two crocheted pillow tops (i took them off their worn out cases) i LOVE this idea... i have to make one too! i just haven't had the time... hope mine comes out as beautifully as yours

48  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Discussion and Questions / Re: How to make a doll-size set of bagpipes??? on: January 31, 2010 04:37:51 PM
go to a chinese buffet and gank (take) some chopsticks lol, lots of places have the round ones that aren't meant to be broken apart at the top... if you can't find any i can post pix or even send you a few sets, they are light weight, all you'd have to do is sharpie them darker...
