[what i do with things like this (and i get them lots since everyone knows i like crafting stuff) is break out the nail polish, model or ceramic paint (depending on the mood and type/content of item) and get busy... but you could do lots with this, glue on a hinge, line with velvet, steampunk it up with gears and such and metallic paint, put silk flowers on top etc... make it your own!]
