What if you stick with the cigar theme?  You could create compartments in the box to hold things like a cigar cutter, lighter, and a few special cigars.

Calendars are one of my favorite forms of functional wall art.

This perpetual calendar is great!  I love the mixes of green, and the fabric number buttons.
