first let me say: THIS IS THE GREATEST HAT PATTERN I HAVE EVER KNIT. i am having it laminated and put into some sort of binder. i love it so much.
HOWEVER- i did alter it. after attempting ribbing several times, i gave up and did the whole thing in stockinette stitch. it came out fine. also, i used bulky yarn instead of super bulky yarn. also not a problem. the pompom was also an addition. i had leftover yarn.) had i sat down to make it instead of knitting it a couple of rows at a time, i am confident i would have finished it before the end of a season of rupaul's drag race. it was very simple, very quick.
