Lufah! i have had this project bookmarked for ever and ever. then a few weeks ago i got a bunch of slides, for free, from an estate. it was an amazing find from an old army photographer who worked and lived in japan for awhile, so the slides are all gorgeous. i'm very excited to finally give this project a go! thanks for the inspiration!
wow. paper amazingness. i wonder if you could do this type of thing with foam squares between each layer... so that it would have more of a 3-d look and would look different at an angle. then you could frame it in a shadow box. oooo.
**EDIT hey, maybe i should have read your text first. haha
wow, my grandfather actually had one of those mirrors.. minus the lebowski part. i wonder if you could find it on ebay. i would say you should cut out vinyl sticker sheets with an exacto knife and put those on.
this caught my attention, and when i couldn't find it on the wbsite either, i made google find it. go here: http://www.ikea.com/au/en/ , then scroll down, bottom near the right. cute ideas depending on what you want to do.
if you think it's going to be a little too thick, really pay attention when you put the plastic circle in. make sure it's sitting directly in the center. if you just drop it in, it's going to slide all the way up/down/left/right and then the opposite side will be the one that doesn't get fully covered.
forever and ever when i was using mine, i was doing it wrong. the little gold ring piece? for those of you that have that model- the black rubber ring around it should be closer to the top. not the bottom. haha.... every time i went ti disassemble the pieces, i really struggled because i put it together wrong. thought it was the machine... but it was just me.
