1  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: What to do with all those old Tshirts on: January 12, 2007 09:33:33 PM
Ok so I am in baby mode, but this would make a super cute baby blanket.

Nice job. I have this book too and it is a regular read when I am drifting off to sleep.

I dream of tee shirts.

I bought that book last year and love it! What an adorable skirt err top! ;o)
I've been reading that book a lot lately to get inspiration to sew.
Your post has inspired me to get this show on the road this weekend.
Great job!

4  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: 50%+ Christmas Gift Challenge on: November 12, 2006 10:32:24 AM
I will add more as we get closer to the big day - but here is what I am doing so far.

Making one of the following for everyone:
Flax seed microwave heating pads with washable polar fleece covers (half done)
Tins of flat glass marble magnets (cancelled - I just found out I am preg and do not want to use the glue on these)
Flavored Coffee Mixes
Flavored Cocoa or Mocha Mixes
Flavored Tea Mixes (cancelled - the coffee was more fun to make)

Recent Additions to line up:

Italian herb mix for spaghetti etc (dad & bro)
Emeril's BAM seasoning (for bro)
Ranch Dip mix (for dad & bro) - turned out SO good!

I saved my old glass spice jars and cleaned them up and filled them with the spice mixes. These are all handmade by me!

Individual Gifties:

Fiance (Russian & loves Vodka go figure  Roll Eyes) - Homemade Flavored Vodka (hot peppers from our garden & a Mango one) ; Who knows what else - he is so hard to give gifts to! We've decided not to give many gifts to each other this year as we have to worry about outfitting a new baby in July!

Brother & Girlfriend - Homemade Pomegranate Flavored Vodka in a basket with 2 martini glasses, a martini shaker, Pomegranate rimming sugar, store bought swizzle sticks, and a cosmo/ martini type recipe booklet that I made myself on my pc. Also I made them magnetic (filled) spice tins for the fridge. I bought extra powerful magnets...which will make it interesting when they want to use them hehe. Also I saved one of our Vinho Verde wine bottles (pale blue and so pretty) to clean out and fill will EVOO with a metal pour top for them too.

My pops - His name is Ted, so I am making him a polar fleece blanket for his Sunday afternoon naps...fromTeddy Bear fleece. Garden seeds plus a promise to help him get his garden going next year. Bottle of olive oil in a nice recycled wine bottle. Gingerbread cookie house (not edible) filled with goodies. Washcloths. Nice set of garden hand tools - clearance at Target $7, regularly $40!!.

Mumsy - DVDs galore ($1 bin at Target), Pickled Veggies, Dishtowels, Griddle.

18 yo son - a painting by me from an idea I swiped from Urban Outfitters, PJ bottoms, 2 Xbox 360 games and money towards his new tv.

16 yo son - PJ bottoms, snowboarding parka (definitely NOT homemade Smiley )

Each person in my family gets a nifty pair of socks from me every year - I buy them off clearance in the summer for 50 cents to $1. So they always expect a pair! My Grams gives a dishtowel to each family member which is great because you can always use dishtowels. My mumsy makes knitted dishcloths and gives people 2 every Christmas. I have zillions from her and love them!

I will update my gift list a bit later to reflect current progress.

5  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Re: Obnoxious Holiday/Christmas Letters...help me craft one. on: November 12, 2006 09:57:27 AM
On a more personal note, we won a total home remodel from Home Depot. The spa room off the master bedroom is fabulous. They also built us a theater room with a 102" HD TV, surround sound, and theater seats. The most fun part of all was the theater room dedication performed by Sean Connery. He ended up staying for dinner - and 2 weeks later he is still in our guest cottage. I think the whole family will head off to Sean's manor in Scotland for Christmas.

How about rated P for Pregnant (make it look like the motion picture rating board symbol).

Yah I work in the movie industry. Ya'd think I could get more creative!  Grin
