11  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / New quilts inspired by craftster (and little sister's pregnancy) on: April 05, 2005 10:53:57 PM
Hi All,
Last year I found out my sister was going to have a baby! So after about 5 years in the cupboard, my sewing machine was located and dusted off ready to start on some quilts.
I searched the internet for ideas and quilting how-tos and found craftster, I've been a lurker ever since.
I've finally decided to join up and post my own creations.

The baby boy is my nephew, the quilt is the first one I made for him and is my attempt at mock chenille. The quilt top is four layers of fabric sewn in parallel lines 1" appart then the top 3 layers are cut in between. They are meant to fray and go soft and fluffy. It didn't fray as much as I wanted but my sister loves the quilt and uses it all the time.
Sorry the picture doesn't show much of the quilt. Maybe next time I visit my sister I can take a full picture.

This is the second quilt I made. It's a bit girly, I didn't know he was going to be a boy! It has 30 hand appliqued hearts in 1930s style fabrics. Machine quilted in the ditch then hand quilted around the hearts.

I was on a roll just before christmas so I made this lap quilt for my nana.
