1  DIY Matroyshka! *Image Heavy* in Halloween Costumes by lorimeeker on: November 04, 2011 05:06:18 PM
For Halloween this year I made myself a Matroyshka! (aka Russian Nesting Doll)

Me in the costume! I made faux painted bangs that pin to my head, rosy cheeks and bow lips to complete the look

I built a base of chicken wire into the shape of a Matryoshka. I added a large coffee can to act as a head for the dress form. Then I cut four large sections of canvas and draped it around the chicken wire form.

The stitched and primered canvas base. The head is lined with 1" wide foam sheets cut into the same pattern shape as the canvas pieces. In this pic you can see two of the three steel hoops which hold the shape together along the body. The side seams are kept open for arm slits.

Front view after painting. I used Acrylic paint and gold spray paint for details on the flowers in the blue section

Thanks for checking out my costume!
