21  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Chicken Hugger Pillow on: March 23, 2013 07:45:21 PM
I made this embroidered Chicken pillow for a friend of mine that volunteers at a chicken rescue and has a little red hen as a pet. I borrowed some stitch ideas from pieces I saw around the internet but mostly designed the pattern myself. I LOVE how it turned out and really love my weird pom pom border...

22  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Casida the Nixie King Munny on: January 26, 2013 07:05:07 PM

This is a Munny (a white vinyl doll meant for customizing) that I customized by adding the hair, horns and hooves with polymer clay then painted it. This is basically what it looked like before:

I named my customized Munny Casida. She is the warrior king (king is non-gender specific in this case) of the Nixies. She lost her sight in her right eye when she was attacked and therefor it has clouded over and she has a scar. her clothes are supposed to be made of reptile skin.

23  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General / Ribbon Cushion on: January 13, 2013 09:38:10 AM
I made this cushion for my mother from a book called "Creative Crafts You Can Do In a Day." I changed the colors according to what I had on hand. The book was not very descriptive and I would say I am *okay* with how it turned out. Felt does not hold its shape well when it has holes punched in it. Maybe that is why the book says to double up the felt? Well... too bad I didn't do that. Lol. I had to secure everything including the knots in the "flowers" with thread.

24  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Other Image Reproduction Techniques: Completed Projects / Mushroom Stamp Trio on: December 30, 2012 10:05:28 PM
I made a few mushroom stamps for the Fungus Among Us Swap that I mounted on some nice cuts of wood my mother gave me; just little cylinders of wood with the bark still on them. I never knew what to do with them until I was looking for a wood block to mount the stamps on and there they were. Cheesy I think they look suuuper cute.

25  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Werewolf Girl and a Wee Bird on: December 30, 2012 09:50:42 PM

I made this cute little doll per my previous post ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=418345.0 ) since I loved my little Sugar Plum Fairy so much I needed a lovely friend for her. I don't know how well fairies and werewolves get along but I think They'll do alright. Again, excuse me if this is wrong but these are based off a design by camamiel on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/camamiel?ref=seller_info .) I'll totally buy a doll from her at some point but in the mean time I couldn't resist making my own. I hope that isn't really a problem since it's just for me. >.< Here's a picture of her little tail:

and sitting:

aand I made a quaint little bird of felt and buttons to put in the beard pockets of a bear I made a while back.

26  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Fun Little Sugar Plum Fairy on: December 27, 2012 08:28:59 PM
I love these cute dolls made with pipe cleaner on Etsy (http://www.etsy.com/shop/camamiel?ref=seller_info .) I'll totally  buy a doll from her but in the mean time I couldn't resist making my own. I hope that isn't really a problem since it's just for me. I named her Plumentina and I'm also currently working on a few others...

Here she is sitting with little boots.

and I made some fairy wings out of wire:

I'm pretty proud of her but I'm not sure where I want to put her in my room... I have too much stuff! lol
27  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Grandparents Photo Ornament on: December 20, 2012 07:07:26 PM
I saw rackycoo's Holiday Photo Ornament ( http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=417991.0 ) and I HAD to make something like it. Unfortunately I don't have all the little knick-nack type things to construct from like wooden blocks or wheels or anything so I constructed the base out of cardboard then covered it in papier-mache... because for some reason I think papier-mache solves everything. Then I painted it in gold acrylic. I DID find some wooden nobs so that helped. Then I found more tiny nobs and decorated the crap out of the whole thing. yaaaay!

I put both sides of my family's grandparents on it as a small memorial; two pictures of my dad's parents and two pictures of my mom's parents. I think my dad will especially like this. I can't wait until he comes home and sees it! Thanks, rackycoo, for posting such awesome crafts!

28  GLASS CRAFTS / Glass Crafts: Completed Projects / Angler Fish Stained Glass Piece on: December 02, 2012 10:11:14 AM
This is my third stained glass piece. It's my own design and I am pretty proud of it! An angler fish is a deep sea fish that has an appendage that actually glows in the deep sea dark to attract fish to eat. That is what the marble hanging from the wire is. The other strange thing is that this is the female. The male is actually a much smaller less intimidating fish that when it finds the female, bites her, and his jaws begin to meld into her body. His body is eventually absorbed by her and she can use his parts to mate when she sees fit. That is what the long piece with the clear marble and fin on the bottom is; it's her husband!

29  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Polymer Clay: Completed Projects / My Dapper Fish Man on: November 13, 2012 11:08:26 AM
I made this fish out or polymer clay after a similar drawing of mine but added a moustache. Pretty slick, huh?  Wink

My original thought in this was the idea that all mammals are in a long string of evolutionary process related to fish. This makes me happy to know that we come from these creatures. That as well as others would think that it was rather disturbing, hence Mr. Fish also has a very creepy look about him. I know that if I were fishing and pulled that aboard I would not exactly be thrilled by any means. It is meant to be interesting and disturbing.

This is one of my first attempts at really doing much sculpting with polymer clay, as well as with coloring with it. I would have liked it to be more "Magical" looking and more realistic but am new to this craft and am not necessarily sure about what people do with it to make it that way. It would be good to know what people use to add fine details... what sort of powder I see people using and what gives an Item a finished look. Any interesting tidbits on knowledge would be useful.

Here's a few more different angles of him:

30  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / "Go For It!" Fairy in a Whimsical Cabinet: "Good Vibes" charm on: November 06, 2012 04:15:14 PM
My mother's friend and my sort-of aunt has had a hell of a rough year. I can't even imagine... so I decided I would make a charm-type bobble deal with a message on it. I started off with just thinking I was going to decopauge a wooden heart ornament but... as usual I can't leave well enough alone. I built up the heart   , then I started making a box within it, then doors... then a fairy... well... I'm proud of it and she loves it! And guess what? She is already making strides towards the better.

The heart "cabinet" itself is made of cardboard and papier mache. It was painted in acrylics and a gold metalic marker. The fairy is made of polimer clay, yarn for hair, and has articulated legs and feet.
.

The fairy is supposed to be a little folksy and imitative of cutesy inspirational stuff you see in stores. Because... usuallly I get a little weird with my crafts so I wanted to make sure she likes it. I messed up on her  face  a little when I wanted to add the smile and eye dots so I painted the whole face over... hopefully it doesn't look too bad. Lol

Fairy in the cabinet...

Fairy up-close

Fairy ontop!

Just the cabinet delio itself. You can actually just shove the fairy's feet in there at an awkward angle if you want. Lol
