2  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / THE BIG WINTER HOLIDAY GIFT THREAD!!!! on: September 30, 2005 04:06:52 AM
Rather than having milliions of different threads about Christmas and having to look for ages to find what we want....here is one BIG one! Grin

Feel free to add your ideas anything goes!

Firstly though, here are my thoughts:
-Gifts for my brother and boyfriend; I'm going to make them a stocking each, with fur round the top edge and pom poms!. For my brother, I'm going to fill it full of sweets all wrapped up separately,
Update! In my boyfriends I put all the gifts and little stocking fillers i bought him all wrapped! He's going to Love it! Simple but effective!

-Members of your family Love pictures of you especially if they are in a decorated frame! You could even do a Christmas collage or something similar and frame that!

-Or perhaps if you are a bit of a photographer you could frame some of your work and give it to someone.

-Or give someone a piece of artwork you created so they can frame/mount/display it!

-Knitted scarves, hats, gloves, socks etc etc!

-sew your own: clothes/pyjamas

-Stencil anything!

-Make cookies, dish them out to all your family/friends!

-Cuddly toys/cushions/blankets/quilts

OK so there are my ideas, please add more and extend on what i already suggested!

3  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Arty Christmas presents on: September 12, 2005 10:42:31 AM
I was debating whether or not to post this on the 'more art, less craft' board, but decided on this one because of the gift element.
So i want to make some gifts for christmas this year, but i would like to incorporate more art into them rather than craft, for example i like to paint, but i don't want to just do a painting, i want to do something a bit more adventurous but like involving the skills that i have like drawing and painting etc. Though if anyone has any ideas of paintings that i could do that would be nice presents, but not just like christmas scenes something that could be displayed all the time?  ???Thanks x
4  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Vintagey Tin with rhinstones on: August 03, 2005 11:42:29 AM
My dad had this tin in his shed with the Queen on it (younger of course), he found it in a house clearance and he was storing nails and stuff in it, i loved it so i took off him, cleaned it and lined it with some felt, though it still looked boring on the outside. So on the lid i stuck some tiny coloured rhinestones on the jewellery that she's wearing, and on the chandelier 'cause i had some left! Its got some scratches on it but you can't notice them that much when using it and i think it adds to the vintagey feel. I now use it to store jewellery!

9  NEWS AND DISCUSSION ABOUT CRAFTSTER / Craftster Picture Hosting Support / How to change image size on Corel Photo House if anyone has it. on: July 30, 2005 02:33:54 PM
1. Click Edit, Image Properties.
2. Type values in the Horizontal and Vertical boxes.

 Tip

Enable the Identical Values check box to maintain image proportions while changing the resolution.

Note

High resolutions create very large files.

or, i found another way:
When you are in corel and you've got your image
dont do anything to the image, instead go to FILE and SAVE AS. A box will come up and make sure you change the file from a .bmp to a .jpg
Type in your file name and press save. Another small box will appear saying 'Jpeg export'. There is a scale called 'quality factor' which you can slide to achieve a smaller file! Hey presto! ( i had to do this several times however to achieve the right size file and one which is visible but it doesnt take long)

I'm thinking at the moment( i keep changing my mind) that i want to paint it three colours: Cream ceiling, Chocolate/mocha brown, and i don't know the name of a colour but i want the other colour to be a kind of deepred/purple, my cousin said that would be aubergine? does anyone think that those colours would go well together?
