11  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Completed Projects: General / The Hitchhiker's Guide to Father's Day on: June 17, 2012 02:43:44 PM
I made up this ipad sleeve for my dad for father's day:

I stitched it up from a bit of fabric from my stash, and stenciled it with acrylic paint. I know that's not the best paint for the job, but I figured since he won't be washing it too much it should be okay (and I really didn't want to go buy fabric paint). It was my first time using freezer paper stencils, so that was very fun. It's a bit smudgy in a couple of places, but overall I was pretty pleased with how it turned out.

On the back, a very important reminder:

I lined it with a bit of terry cloth (cut from an old bathrobe and dyed), to help my dad make sure that he always knows where his towel is. Of course, function-over-form fellow that he is, he took one look at the liner and said, "Oh, cool! A built in screen cleaner!"

I would have liked to have given it a more secure closure, but I was sewing the whole thing by hand (my machine is on the fritz right now) and by the time I got to that part I was very much ready to be finished.

The pictures are taken on the tissue paper that I wrapped it in, stamped with a hand carved stamp. Here's a shot of it all wrapped up:

I had a lot of fun geeking out with this one. C & C would be very much appreciated!

Hurray! Partners!

Oh, my gosh, NightOwl21, that cupcake is beyond cool. I've been loving all of the Loki's army representation on this thread.

camezzo, that is brilliant.

These are so awesome! I love that they're all a little different. Wearing cats all over your body also sounds like a very noble ambition.

Is the lace attached to the zipper? That bag is very cute.

I really did, Sharalee! Bowlordie definitely spoiled me... but I'm not complaining! Grin

It wasn't hard to get good pictures, Bowlordie - it's awesome stuff!

I love that mug rug! So bright and cheerful!

I received an absolutely amazing package from bowlordie today!

Here's all of my loot together:

A felted bag that is the perfect size for bebopping around with (and the perfect color, too!), a doodle-y mug, a dala horse inspired bookmark (the felt is attached to an elastic band - so clever!), a linocut dala horse stamp, a journal and memo pad (definitely going to be using both profusely; I'm such a scribbler), and a felted gnome home!

Here's a close up of the sweet dala horse stamp, complete with its own sweet dala horse bag!

And another shot of the gnome home!

It's all wonderful, but I absolutely adore this! I can't stop giggling and smiling at how adorable it is.

Here it is again, settled in on my bookshelf, complete with resident gnome:

Thank you so much, bowlordie! This is a fantastic package and you were a fantastic swap partner!
