Does anyone know if there will be another one of these swaps this Winter? This was so fun! I don't know what it was, maybe that I love Winter but this was a great swap. I love the warm drinks and cozy accessories. Smiley

This really is excellent work.  What kind of paint did you use?

We've been living in our apartment for only over 2 months so far, and the kitchen counters have scratches on them that show their off-white undersides (I had no idea they were already "painted" counters!) so I'm thinking about working up the nerve to ask them if I can redo them myself.  It would save them some money, and I'd get the kind of look I want on them!

I used Zinsser primer, I think it was. I used acrylic craft paint, and polycrylic (I may be spelling that wrong) sealer. I actually ended up with probably 8 to 10 coats of the sealer. I sanded between every few coats. It still looks great. I am planning on a kitchen redo in a few years so if it holds up that long, I'll be happy. I was thinking that I might put another coat or two of polycrylic on in about a year or whenever I think they need it.

Thank you both very much! I am really loving red and gold the last few years.

I'm doing a lot of red and gold this year inside and out. I made this wreath last week. I just love the way it turned out.

Thanks everyone! My whole kitchen looks different now. It's not really a permanent solution, but we are going to remodel our kitchen in a few years and I'll be getting new ones then. It should last for several years at least with no problem. I was thinking it may be a good idea to add an extra coat of polycrylic every year or so to help protect it. Anyway, I'm happy with hit. I was totally sick of my old off white stained countertops so I decided to finally get up the nerve and paint them. I sanded them well, then primed them with a good primer, painted them, then applied a sealer. I sanded between every few coats of the sealer and probably ended up with like 10 coats once it was all said and done. I have a before picture, but it's on my husband's phone so I will have to post it tomorrow. So, for now here is my finished work. Smiley
