2  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Specken Dicken on: January 02, 2012 08:58:56 AM
Spent New Year's with Fiance's family. They enjoy making Specken Dicken. I believe it is a German dish.
Here's the recipe if anyone is interested, basically a very heavy pancake.

2 1/2 cups white flour
1 cup pure med rye flour
1 tsp soda
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp cinnamon
1 tsp anise seed
2 cups dark corn syrup
3 eggs
Milk (enough to make it like pancake mix)
piece of polish sausage

Mix together and add enough milk to make it like a pancake mix. Put a couple pieces of polish sausage right before you flip for the first time.

His family uses dark corn syrup to top it off as well instead of maple syrup, but it's all to taste.

I'm not sure how to cut out around and object that has already been printed but I do know the Cricut Imagine prints and cuts at the same time. I love the Imagine and how you can just print and have it cut out at the same time. I have never tried printing something and cutting out a different shape though. That's something I'm going to have to check out!

I'm stamping onto cardstock.

I'm taking a letter and stamping it onto a 1" x 1" square. I then place the square onto one side of a wooden cube to use as decorations. I was using Mod Podge to seal the wood and the stamp so it would last. I did end up using StazOn Permanent ink pad.

Maybe I'm not letting it dry long enough or maybe I'm working the Mod Podge too much. All of my ink pads and stamps are from the company Close To My Heart.

Hello All,

I've been trying to find a way to seal my stamped images before adding layers of Mod Podge. I do have some Staz-on ink, which is permanent ink, but that is only in brown and black and I was hoping to make some colorful blocks with all the colors I have in ink pads. Every time I try to put Mod Podge over another ink that's not Staz-on it runs, which I understand why, it's a water-based ink.

I was wondering if anyone had ideas on how to seal the stamped image before sealing it with the Mod Podge.

Any ideas??
