I just finished up my 6 back pieces for the flags and snapped a few pix to share how I made them...

finished size is 5x8 and suggested starting size was 5x11. I added an inch to each edge, making it 6x12...

~~~~~~~~
Then I folded the 2 long edges in almost 1/2" on each side, until the width was 5" and also folded up one short edge (bottom on mine)...
~~~~~~~

Next I sewed down the 3 folded over edges. I turned it over, so the right side of the fabric was up (this will be the back of the flag). Then folded back so the flag was 8" from top to bottom and pressed that seam...

~~~~~~~~
I finger pressed the last raw edge down about 1/4"...I like to eyeball stuff lol
~~~~~~~

Then I folded up the raw edge i just finger pressed so that edge was even with the very top of the back side of the flag...and sewed a tiny seam on both the very top edge and the bottom of the hanging tube, but not the sides so you can put a ribbon or string thru to hang. The hanging tube is about 1-1/2" and it is folded so you can put your ribbon thru either part of the tube or maybe add a ribbon with beads in one tube to decorate your flag more?

~~~~~~
This is the finished hanging tube on the back side. I just have to tie and hide the thread ends. Now I can start the fronts of the flags, and have them be 5x8 and whip stitch them to the back piece or sew them on depending on what my design idea becomes...
35  Re: Box of Color Round Two in The Swap Gallery by rscowtown on: February 09, 2015 08:21:02 AM
I just received my box this morning. I can only share this picture as the goodies that quaggy has inside the box are not for me but for my friend's daughter SueAnn. When I take it up to her, I will get lots of pix so you can see all of all the goodies that quaggy sent.
