1  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Can I use screenprinting paints as regular fabric paint? on: June 11, 2004 08:31:42 PM
have any of you used screenprinting paints as regular fabric paints - just brushed on and left to dry?

Do these need to be cured in any way? I don't know much about screenprinting and couldn't find this answer anywhere.

Thanks,
Maria
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / What is crafting felt made of? on: April 08, 2004 11:44:31 AM
Hi,

I am trying to figure out what felt is made of. It's the crafting felt that you buy at any arts/crafts store.

Is it polyester" Acrylic? Or wool? I have no idea!

Thanks,
Maria
3  CANADA / Ontario / Canada Day Craft Show at Jimmy Simpson on: April 08, 2004 06:32:49 AM
In my neighbourhood in Toronto I have begun to see notices posted up calling for crafters for this event.

I remember going last year and there didn't seem to much buying action, but it still might be worth checking out if you have some lower priced items (I dont think higher priced goods would sell). Or maybe you want to try your hand at a craft fair and this might be a good show to start at.

Most of the items for sale were jewellery and kid's stuff. Dog stuff might be good too.

4  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / So how do you make a web banner exactly? on: April 07, 2004 07:46:40 PM
Hi,

I'm trying to figure out how to make a web banner. Is it just my logo in gif format, and the person putting it on their links page adds the html?

I'm not quite sure what to do.

5  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Spam and e-commerce sites on: April 03, 2004 04:30:09 PM
Since I've had my site up, Ive been getting lots of spam in my email. Almost all of them are for logo companies Like I would buy anything from a spam email, let alone make a business decision based on them!

What is the best way to keep them from getting my email and stopping the spam? Is it ok to do a clickable phrase, like Contact Me, or should I spell it out like "info at urbandestiny.com"?

Thanks,
Maria
6  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / Does anyone know of any good script sites? on: February 13, 2004 07:25:14 AM
Hi,

I want to add a menu bar to my website, the one that has a category and then the mouse hovers over and you get the items to click on.

I have no idea what they are called and I have checked out some script sites and can't seem to find what I want.

Does anyone know of any good ones?

Thanks!
7  CRAFTY BUSINESS ADVICE / Crafty Business Discussion / To Brand or not to Brand? on: February 04, 2004 10:17:12 AM
Hi all,

I apologize if this has been covered before - I've looked to see if it was, but couldn't find anything.

Do those of you who produce items for sale brand your productsl? I know purses have labels, but what about t-shirts, panties, etc. Do you include your logo, business name or URL in the design or anywhere on the item?

Do you think it looks tacky, or a good way to brand yourself?
8  PURSES, BAGS, WALLETS / Purses, Bags, Wallets: Discussion and Questions / COlour of flags for bags on: February 03, 2004 08:34:56 AM
Hi,

I want to imprint some different flags on a tote, and was wondering if you think whether the original colours of the flag would be best, or if I should have some fun with them and use some different colours in the flag.

Do you think people would be offended if I changed the colours (some look really good with some different colours mixed in!)?
