I can't believe I just missed this swap!  So close!
3  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Re: Stanley Kubrick swap, anyone? on: July 04, 2006 12:23:19 PM
I'd be interested in a Dr. Strangelove swap.  I think that's the only one of his besides 2001 Space Odyssey (ugh) which I've seen.
4  Craft Swaps / ARCHIVE OF SWAPS THAT ARE TOTALLY FINISHED / Re: Studio Ghibli Swap (SIGNUP CLOSED mail by 20/6) on: June 19, 2006 11:01:00 AM
I just sent out today and from what the office told me, the package should get to my partner in about three weeks!

This particular dress fits a newborn, though it looked a little big to me.  I'll find out if it really fits when my cousin's baby is actually here!  My grandma thought it looked big too, but of course the great thing is that baby's will grow into any size of clothing you make!  The pattern did include up to larger sizes as well, but the envelope is packed right now (I'm moving), so I can't be sure to what age it would fit.  Basically for under one year, I know though.  There were some variations of the dress I made, including flutter sleeves or sleeveless with ties, that I intend to make as soon as I get done with moving!

No, I haven't seen The Cat Returns, but I was watching some extras on Whispers of the Heart, and they said that The Cat Returns is actually a prequel.  They said that the Baron is actually supposed to be much younger in The Cat Returns and similar to a "50 year old man" in Whispers of the Heart.  I guess it's one of those things like Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom/Raiders of the Lost Ark where they make the movies out of time line order.

I just watched Whisper of the Heart last night!  It had a good story, though middle school students talking about marriage seemed like a stretch.  The great part about this swap is that we'll have to watch our partner's favorite Ghibli movies again.  Too bad!

This is my first baby clothing item.  The pattern was overall easy to follow.  The only vague part was the use of bias tape.  The pattern called for purchasing bias tape, but then didn't say where to use it.  After making my own sleeve binding (very annoying), I realized that was probably a step where bias tape should have been used!  I chose this pattern because it had no zippers or button holes for that matter.  It makes a cute dress with little trouble.

Here is the second outfit I made from the pattern about two months ago.  I finally got my computer set back up after the two moves in two months that I made!

9  ORGANIZED CRAFT SWAPS / New Swap Theme Ideas / Kurosawa/Mifune swap? on: April 23, 2006 11:52:44 AM
Would anyone be interested in an Akira Kurosawa/Toshiro Mifune swap?

Be careful!  I cut my hand really bad doing this.  Maybe if you have something more powerful than an exacto knife.
