1  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Misc. Gift Idea Brain Blockage / Hollywood Nights ~ 21st ideas on: October 04, 2007 04:15:31 AM

My friend turns 21 next Saturday.  She adores anything to do with Hollywood/ New York etc  She is studying theatre at college. Her party has a Hollywood Nights, "lights, camera, action" theme.  I'd love to get her a gift that is of a similar theme but I'm completely stumped and, sadly, strapped for cash at the moment.
So far I have her a 4ft helium balloon in the shape of an oscar lol.  Any other tips or ideas would be greatly appreciated.  Thanks  Grin
2  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Nylon Butterflies / dragonflies / flowers ~ help! on: March 15, 2006 05:18:18 PM
Hi there, I'm planning on decorating my daughters bedroom and rather than go for a character theme which dates easily (this I know because she has already had Winnie the Pooh and Disney Princess and both have bored her pretty easily), I'm thinking of a garden theme with flowers and bugs.  We don't have a garden of our own so it would be pretty cool.

During one of my numerous searches, I found http://www.butterflycraze.com/store/mobiles.html which I am completely in love with.  Being a craftster, I want to try and make these by myself and I think I've got the basic idea, but not completely sure, so any tips/techniques you guys have and could throw my way would be greatly appreciated.

I could just go buy these, as the site owner has an ebay shop (I'm in the Uk so buy most of my American finds from ebay lol), but I want to try and create my own first.  Thankies in advance
3  HOME SWEET HOME / Crafty Housewares: Discussion and Questions / Modge Podge on: August 05, 2005 08:46:46 AM
I've noticed modge podge is mentioned a lot on here in relation to a lot of different projects.  What exactly is it and what can it be used for?  Does anyone know if it's available in the UK and if not, what would be the next best thing?  Thanks in advance  Smiley
4  CLOTHING / Clothing: Discussion and Questions / Denim Jacket Inspiration on: July 02, 2005 03:28:30 PM
I have a plain denim jacket that I want to customize, but surprisingly I'm at a loss for inspiration.  I've googled etc, but can't find anything nice enough to do to it.  Does anyone have any ideas or links to ideas? Thanks in advance
5  HOME SWEET HOME / Exterior Decorating / Yard Art / Gardening: Discussion and Questions / Play House Decor on: May 18, 2005 10:02:22 AM
Hi there.  For our daughters 1st birthday, (3 years ago) we bought her a wooden play house for the garden, it's a 10ft by 10ft summer house with a porch on front.  At the time, we concentrated more on the interior decor and painted the outside in a basic brownish exterior wood paint.  She's going on 3 now, and I'd love to pretty it up a little more, but the exterior wood paint I've found is available in very few colours.  I was thinking of a garden theme, painting it a pale blue and freehanding some bugs and flowers on, maybe some grass?  And painting the porch white and adding some white picket fencing.
What kind of paint would I be able to use that would be weather resistent?  If no such paint exists, would I be able to paint a clear varnish on top to seal the artwork?
We're in Scotland, so bad weather protection is a must lol.
Thanks in advance for any help.

7  CLOTHING / Clothing: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Jeans skirt...boring, but I'm proud ;) on: April 16, 2005 06:22:31 AM
Hi there, this is my first post and about my 70th jeans skirt reconstruction lol, but I'm tres pleased with the results on this one.

Front view...it loos very uneven, but it's just bad posture lol

Side view....looks a little unfinished cos I ran out of denim, but I'm thinking of a way to fix it up

I planned on making this a basic jeans skirt, but I accidentally cut the crotch part, so the only way to fix it was to cut it horizontal.  I didn't have enough fabric left over to do pretty ruffles, so they're all going the same way...I ended up short of fabric anyway lol, but I'm pleased with the result.  The lace was an afterthought, basically to cover my scary stitching.
