11  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / lacy camera strap on: May 28, 2012 09:03:36 PM
I've had my DSLR camera for several months now, and it's always frustrated me how short the neck strap was that came with it. Finally after months of putting off buying a new strap for it, I decided to make one... can't be that hard, right?

So here it is, my new and improved (and plenty long enough) camera strap.
(please disregard the dog hair on my couch... it's a constant battle which I am losing at the moment)

I used the Queen Anne's Lace scarf pattern with a much smaller hook than recommended for the yarn to make it a little smaller and sturdier, and two little clasps that I found in a bag of key chain rings. I would've liked to be able to show it actually attached to the camera, but I couldn't figure out how to take a picture of the camera, with the camera.

shannin- I love that scarf!! it's so cool how the thick and thin yarn gives it so much texture!

rodelphia- you should give me that black yarn for two reasons: 1) you don't want your husband getting mad at you for having too much yarn 2) pretty sure you borrowed that drop spindle from me, therefore the yarn should be mine!  Grin

sheeshakaye- unicorn poop is hysterical!!! It's like a whole bag of lucky charms marshmallows isn't it? The shirt is neat with the lettering going down it & I love your drawing! It's sweet!

The unicorn poop is exactly a whole pound of lucky charms marshmallows... I wish i could say that I was so dedicated to this swap that I picked them all out of regular lucky charms, but I didn't. They're sold like that at a local Amish bulk foods store (yes, it is different from a regular bulk food store). I had some help from Rodelphia with the shirt... that's her handwriting because I can't even read mine sometimes!

I'm so glad you liked everything, Ceda!

In my package, I got an awesome sparkly unicorn string art (already hanging in my bedroom)

and a cute plastic canvas key chain which my cat has been carrying around for a week... I had to steal it back to take the pic!

Still alive and looking forward to my partner's reaction! Cheesy

Ceda, I received your package yesterday, thank you SO much! I'll post pics in the gallery ASAP.  Sorry, it's been a crazy week around here... I finally got mine to the post office yesterday.

panic mode crafting tonight! I ended up having to work today so my nice crafty weekend had turned into about 8 hours of time I can spend... after the mishaps i've had during this swap, i'm really hoping i don't screw this project up too!  Undecided

I know it's not friday anymore, but i wanted to share what I've been working on this weekend.

This is the roving I traded with Rodelphia for, I spun roughly a third of it (1.5 oz, maybe) and ended up with this-

- roughly 100 yds of pretty pink, blue and purple yarn, I haven't decided if I want to ply it yet, I think it will depend on how the rest of it comes out.
