1  NEEDLEWORK / Sublime Stitching Embroidery / Re: Question about iron-ons Sublime Stitching on: February 11, 2006 02:00:37 PM
some of my stitch it iron-on designs are still visible on the tea towels and pillow cases i've stitched up. will that go away with washing over time? i just want people to notice the stitching and not see the black outlining so much

i can't use a clorox detergent or stainstick, because that might ruin the embroidery floss...?

3  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Discussion and Questions / Re: Selvedge on: February 11, 2006 01:49:00 PM
i got a complimentary issue and enjoyed looking at the pix, but it seem to be very aimed at people who are either in the textile industry or are obsessed with fibers and materials. i passed my issue along to a knitting friend who owns a yarn shop and designs knitted wear.

i did NOT find it worth the price listed.

4  KNITTING / Projects from the Stitch 'N B**ch Books by Debbie Stoller / Re: Kool-aid Alien on: February 11, 2006 01:41:00 PM
i love it! the colors somehow remind me of noro colors.

i also made the alien illusion scarf but with lime green and black.

great job!

that's amazing that the argyle-like coloring was unintentional!

i'm sure you'd run into some knitters and yarn freaks over at yarn barn on mccullough. it's been around for decades.

4300 Mccullough Ave
San Antonio, TX 78212-1909
(210) 826-3679

or maybe just call them up and ask about any craftster groups.
10  CROCHET / Crochet: Discussion and Questions / Re: crochet & swimsuits on: June 26, 2005 11:01:59 AM
an old roommate of mine started her own crochet bikini company which provides great inspiration! (www.ambikabikini.com)  she says, however, that she goes diving and fishing and swimming in her suits, which meants whatever yarn she uses stretches quite nicely and should stay on.

like mikan said, though, cotton might not be the best choice because it isn't very elastic. maybe a cotton/synthetic blend would be stretchier.

good luck!
