yeah, thanks. i actually found that but i'm not sure it will fit properly for what I need it for...and that seems like a lot of money for it.
14  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / sugar skulls on: January 29, 2009 07:51:09 PM
These are inedible so they definitely don't belong in the food forum, they're sealed with sealant! These are for my year long dia de los muertos ofrenda Smiley

Those are amazing!  I love them.  I made a few for a library program for school-aged kids, and those were hard enough for me.  Yours are very intricate.

Did you use scissors, an exacto, or the traditional chisel?
I used an exacto knife...I saw the chisel after the fact, but I am not sure if it would make things more difficult, or facilitate the process. I think perhaps on the smaller details it might make things easier but am not sure...I am kind of in need to figure out a better way of doing this when I make them on tissue paper...since tissue paper is much more fragile than copy paper.

I am making a year round dia de los muertos altar and this is what I have made so far for the papel picado...more will be coming. The first one is a sugar skull, the second is 2 angel skeletons...the angel skeleton one says "paz" which means peace in Spanish...

I know these exist I am just having a really hard time finding one. Am looking for an arch/upside down u made out of styrofoam for floral work...It needs to be no larger than 20" at it's highest point...if you know where to find them, please let me know. I have already checked michael's crafts, if you know of any other major craft stores or a place online please share!!

Providence has a big craft scene, just more of an underground/not-so-in-your-face way, which is great.
I recommend living on the east side of providence close to brown university or maybe by wickenden street! there are lots of great places on wickenden and also, if you like Japanese food, the best Japanese restaurant is Haruki East in my opinion!
We have craftland every december, also google as220!

I am surprised there isn't an official thread for this that I could see in a quick glance.
Let's post pictures (or links to pictures) of food we have made.

I have only been a vegan for two weeks so a lot more pictures will be to come! I am obsessed with vegan food and sharing it with everyone! mmmm
Now post your vegan food porn!
20  TOYS, DOLLS AND PLAYTHINGS / Toys, Dolls and Playthings: Completed Projects / Re: Japanese pop themed piggy bank! on: May 11, 2007 11:22:50 AM
I made the bank with a balloon and toilet paper rolls. I taped the toilet paper rolls (cut in equal lengths) to the balloon and covered it with paper mache.
