I'm not sure if this is allowed to, but I figure we can put most clay crafting stuff here, yeah? Like air dry and homemade stuff?
Anyway, has anyone worked with bread clay before? I don't remember an exact recipe, but you take white bread without the crusts, and you mix it up with glue and glycerin (or liquid dish soap) and you let it air dry. It's pretty popular in Mexico, if you've ver seen the little food magnets they have there. There's actually something that mimics it, called Migaflex, it's like white glue (but I'm not sure what it is) and you cook it up to make a clay pretty much just like bread clay, just white.
with our little group of artkids, we have two filipinos. both of whom have mothers who make lumpia. now this, i sear to god, is CRACK. it's so addictive. when we lend them money, we want them to pay us back in lumpia. its the little fried ones with pork inside--does anyone have a good recipe? ;like the kind you serve in ducksauce. i looved online here, but i wasn't too sure--wanted to know if any of you could reccomend a recipe! thanksyou! ♥
I've been working on getting my little bizniz going, I have been selling things but i want it all more professional, at least a little. I'm working on my website now, and I want to have business cards ready. All I was wondering was this---what would you think of a non-standard size business card? Like the size of an ATC (artist trading card), 2.5" * 3.5"? Or should i just stick to the usual 3.5" * 2"?
Now, I absolutely adore looking at the work of other crafters, especially those who sell their creative wares--but at the same time, I hate it. I hate it because once I see something-- especially something I was planning to make-- being sold, I know that if I try to make it and sell it (as I do with my crafts), I'll get jumped on for ripping the person off.
I don't know, maybe I'm the only one here, but it seems that in my town, I'm one of the only few crafty people--and the only one under 50. It seems as if EVERYONE does what I do on this board, but here in the real world I'm pretty alone. I mean, my friends are impressed with my "creativity" and my sister is shocked how i have such dexterity with these short fat stubby fingers [[ha ha]], but I don't really have anyone to talk to to discuss crafts with, at least not in the way I do them--when some of my friends think of crafts, they speak of cutesy scrapbooking and needlepoint--like ducks with bonnets. Oddly enough, though, I just started taking up crochet--and all my friends think I'm an old lady.
Anyone else get this sort of thing? Doesn't count if you live in the city
So I've looked all over the site and haven't really found any help. Can any of you guys pleaaaase give me some tips on plushie construction? Like... making the plush 3-d. I can't figure out how I want to cut out the pieces to get it in the right shape after I sew and stuff. do you know what I mean? I really don't feel like idsassembling my own things, either--they're valuable to me >.<
