And don't worry, you don't need a pro account to contribute. And crafters from the entire environs of Toronto are welcome to join and contribute. Images from this pool may also be pulled for profiling on the Toronto Craft Alert.
You are invited to *CraftChat T.O.*, an informal gathering of people interested in talking about the state of craft, design and DIY culture in Toronto & beyond. Consider this to be a stitch n bitch of the mind (?) though feel free to bring stuff to keep your hands busy, of course.
This call to gather was inspired by a recent trip by Becky (Good Catch Craft Fairs, The Sweetie Pie Press), Jen (Toronto Craft Alert) & Leah (Church of Craft, Coldsnap Bindery) to Pittsburgh for Craft Congress 2007, a meeting of crafty minds from North America & Britain (read more about it here). One really interesting thing that came up was how the craft scene/community/culture differs so much from place to place, in terms of people's motivations for participating, how it is perceived by the larger community, and on many other levels. Which begs the question, what's up with craft in T.O.???? What are we doing here? Why are we doing it? Are we doing it differently than others? Could we be doing it better? Could we be having more fun? And who is this 'we', anyhow?
Also, we will have materials on hand from the Craft Congress & will be happy to answer any questions about that gathering as well.
If you'd like to participate in CraftChat T.O. (or come hang out & eavesdrop), taking place on *Sunday May 27th at 2pm*, please *RSVP* to email@example.com *by May 18th*. Once we've got an idea of how many people want to attend, we'll announce the venue.
i finally had a second to breathe and made a few updates around good catch craft fair land.
in response to all the posts and emails i have recieved about vending, i made this in hopes of explaining a little more about what we do and also to help work in new vendors: http://www.goodcatch.ca/vending.html
the little craft fairs website is very fresh (and i've thrown the march poster up as a place holder) so please bear with me as i get everything in order.
i just wanted to get the word out about vendor submissions as quickly as possible.
as these are items i am offering for sale, this might not be the right place for it, so appologies if i have done something wrong. but if anyone takes me up on this offer, i would rather it be someone in toronto so that shipping is not involved.
i have just reordered a huge batch of button parts and, in going through the parts i already had, i found some sets of smaller amounts packaged into smaller numbers (100, 250, 500, 1000, 2500) and figured i may as well pass my bulk savings on to craftster people before emptying out all these neatly packaged little sets into my dresser (yes, a whole dresser) of button parts.
call it spring cleaning.
if it seems like something you might be interested in, drop me and email at firstname.lastname@example.org and i can quote you the wholesale price i got on them (it will be at par to what i paid including tax and shipping, if applicable).
