This is a new idea I'm playing with, any thoughts?

The right one is felted, the left isn't. I've been trying to get a feel for a pattern that I like and still looks nice, I'm still working on it but I have to wait until I have more yarn ends to play with

Does anyone have any tips for a newbie? I've recently been told that knitting lose gives a better felt, anyone else have this experience?
