11  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General / Working on a Lathe on: March 04, 2012 08:07:47 AM
Here's a ring that me and my dad were both working on:

And then the finished version:

The one on the left isn't finished yet, that's how it looks coming out of the casting machine. The one on the right is completely done and polished!

Another set of cuties that I made up... I couldn't decide which colour I wanted more so I just made them all!

I especially like the Olive, but the really bright blue ones look really good with my hair too.

This is a ring my sister wanted me to customize for her

I'm super excited about how it turned out, I just love the finish!

Here's another picture of it that I like:

That ball holder is fantastic.

I'm currently working on this lovely number:

It's a tablet sleeve! And it fits on my Kobo!

Once it's all finished, I'll be able to post the chart and pattern on my blog. I can't wait to get it done!

I knit english, it's just what my grandmother taught me. I do knit and watch TV quite often, but it really depends how comfortable I am with the pattern. Lace takes me forever, I can whip up a set of mittens in an evening.

You'll find your stride, it just takes time. Knit at your own speed, your own comfort level, and you'll slowly find the knitting getting faster and easier Smiley

If you want to watch TV while knitting, I would just find an easy, repetative project. I even knit at the pub sometimes, but never lace!
16  KNITTING / Knitting: Discussion and Questions / Re: US 35 Knitting Needles on: November 15, 2011 05:20:34 AM
Hey all, sorry my reply is so late!

My dad and I made these using a 3/4 inch dowel, he helped me select one that was nice and smooth so we didn't have much work to do. He took it out to his workshop, and whippped these up in about 5 seconds.

I took pictures of the progress on my blog, he was so proud of them!

I'm planning on knitting with these using cut up t-shirts, to make floor cushions and stuff like that. I've only ever done one pattern using needles this size, and that was a poncho knit with Romni Big wool. But I do love these needles!

Next up, an equal size crochet hook. Wonder if dad can handle THAT one!

Thanks so much for that, I was up at 6 am so upset that someone was unhappy with the pattern! Oh well, the corrections have been made all the same!

I really like this way of adding a thumb, I really don't like picking up stitches. Never quite looks proper.

I'm glad you enjoyed the pattern, I can't wait to see some finished projects!

Hey all, here's a Ravelry Link to the pattern:

http://www.ravelry.com/patterns/library/love-me-forever

I'm so happy everyone likes it! It's a very simple cable for a beginner, nothing too complicated here. I've already started designing the next pair, I'll post them as soon as they're done!

Thanks for so much positive feedback, it's my very first pattern and I'm so happy with the postive comments. Let me know if there's anything in the pattern that needs fixing!

Thanks! I've never written a pattern before, this is my first. I've posted it to Ravelry, and my blog as well.

Now on to the next one..

Just finished publishing this pattern on Ravelry:

I designed them for my younger cousin, I figure they're cute enough for her to wear even though she's a teenager Smiley

What do you guys think?
