28  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Any sandwich ideas? on: June 29, 2005 01:46:21 PM
In Paris at every cafe you can order these and they're super easy to make:

open-faced sandwich on half a baguette, covered in brie and topped with two medallions of goat cheese.  then pop it in the oven and let it all melt.  Geez these are gooood.

Also, at a restaurant in Austin, there's this wonderful sandwich:

Pastrami, sauteed in a pan until edges are brown, baby spinach leaves, fresh buffalo mozzarella, drizzle balsamic vinagrette, on sourdough bread (I think).  Yum.
29  HOME SWEET HOME / Interior Decorating: Discussion and Questions / Re: Room Re-deco Help! [pictures] on: June 28, 2005 11:51:45 AM
I saw in some magazine a while ago some cool ideas for window treatments:

Use those stick on gels to cover the entire pane of glass, each pane a different color, they actually used pink, orange and yellow.

Attach shelves to the walls around your window, so that the shelves cross your window and cover the shelves with glass bottles of the same color, blue, or orange would be pretty.

Also attaching thick, weighted (with a jewel or crystal) ribbon above your window so that they stream down in front of it in different lengths.

I would also refinish your desk and make a headboard.  Sometimes all your room needs is rearranging.  So try it in all different ways until you really like something.  Don't put everything into corners.

Also, Target has some great, relatively inexpensive closet organizers.

Good luck!
