1  CROCHET / Crochet: Completed Projects / Baby Treasure! on: January 27, 2012 10:57:29 AM
So I just recently taught myself to crochet and decided that since all my husband's coworkers were having babies it would be fun to do crochet baby gifts.  I found ravelry.com and starting picking out patterns.    So I started doing a blanket in the nursery colors of the closest expecting mother.
(I can't post pictures yet but here is the link Smiley )

While I was shopping for yarn for the blanket (paint swatches in hand) I found baby camo that perfectly matched (and was appropriate since Expecting Mom and Dad are both army).  So I of course had to snatch it up and ended up making this guy which probably belongs in the amigurumi category but I thought since most of this post is crochet it'd be ok:

and his mom (not pictured but I just altered the pattern to make it bigger after my husband decided the first one just wasn't big enough)

Then I went and got a gift bag and realized that it was WAY too big and needed to be filled up!  So I used some of the leftovers to make these:

The booties ended up coming out a little funky but overall I'm happy with how everything came out.  I had a lot of fun doing this and finally had to make my husband get the bag out of my house so I would stop making things for the baby.  He instantly commissioned his own goodies too.

Let me know what you think and Thanks for Looking!!!!

I have been lurking for a little while now but I saw this challenge and couldn't resist posting!  My family has been making gingerbread houses every year since my sister and I were little.  This year was the first year that my husband was able to join in and his input was definitely refreshing.  This year since it was also my first year living in Texas while the rest of the family is still in Las Vegas, Mom made two houses so the entire family could decorate.  My husband took this opportunity to decide we were going to make a compound.  Specifically the compound in Pakistan that Osama Bin Laden was found and killed at.  We made the gingerbread Operation Neptune complete with tactical dog, downed Blackhawk and Santa and his reindeer flying by.  The only thing not edible is Santa and his reindeer and our base.  By far my favorite Gingerbread house we have ever made!  We had a ton of fun making it too.
