Gorgeous bowl, lovely rose, and yummy breakfast!

Almost sounds like mother's day, doesn't it?  LOL!

I have a project to add: This is a necklace created from pieces of vintage jewelry cobbled together into what I hope will be considered fabulousness!

I bought these pants at a yard sale and I liked everything about them but the almost-bell-bottoms.

So I got out my handy-dandy scissors and sewing machine and turned them into skinny jeans.

I like them much better now!

Project Name: Blue Jean Makeover
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: Yeah, they are blue.  And I will probably wear red and/or white shirts with them at some point.  Wink  I bought these jeans at a yard sale but they were VERY flared, borderline bell bottoms.  They are now skinny jeans.  Much better.  And in case I didn't mention it before (I can't remember), I'M CRAFTY coz I would never have worn these jeans before, now I think they may be my favorites.  Grin

Brief Description: NO PEEKING QUAGGY! I found this frame at a yard sale - perfect colors for her!!  So something had to go in it.... and birds sing.  Arguably no better music than that.

I've never done this before, so it's experimental for me... Here's hoping it all comes together!

The party was wonderful!  Several of the guests commented that it was a great party!
We had it at the park, which meant that some kids played at the playground, some kids played basketball, but everyone had fun.  Then we did the pinata, cake, ice cream & presents and I didn't have to clean my house or worry about active kids destroying anything or being freaked out by my animals (or the animals being freaked out by THEM  Wink).  Perfect party, in my opinion! LOL!

The "happy birthday" on the cake melted! Ack!  Still tasted good tho.  Wink

It took a lot to break that piata!  We finally gave up on the blindfold and let all the kids whack at it some more, until Dad accidentally-on-purpose dropped it and finished the job.  Cheesy

Project Name: Pinata for my little leprechaun

Brief Description: My littlest lucky charm is having a birthday party on Saturday. He's short like a leprechaun.  Plus the pinata is green. Yep, I'm stretching, here.  Tongue
Project Picture:

We were at 2 birthday parties last week where the pinata hit the ground before the kids barely started swinging.  Here's my solution to that problem:

Project Name: Mind altering drugs?
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: In many video games, there are potions one can take for various reasons. Kind of like the "potions" people enjoyed taking during the 60's (when I was born), but for different reasons.  Although I suspect that sometimes they made people feel like they might be able to do things like resist fire, jump higher, become invisible and so on.  Wink  Made these labels to go on beverages at my little guy's party. And I didn't just find them somewhere and print them -- I designed them myself, with my little teeny computer skills. (And yes, they are little and teeny.)

And NICE JOB on the featured project, Ludi!  Your embroidery skills are amazing!

188  I'm Minecrafted OUT! in Party Planning by bunny1kenobi on: March 26, 2015 06:36:24 AM
My little guy is having a bday party this weekend and opted for a mine craft theme, which  in many ways was super easy, and in many other ways, a big old pain in the neck.  But I love my kid, so here we go.  I will probably be adding to this post later with pics of the cake that I have yet to make.  Roll Eyes

So I made some perler bead zipper pulls and characters for the goody bags.  With 13 kids invited to the party (including the bday boy), that took a good while.

I also made magnets.  I copied some labels from http://www.frugalfamilytimes.com/2013/08/minecraft-birthday-party-printables.html and also made my own with fire on them.  I printed them on half sheet labels from Avery (18126) and then stuck the labels to some magnets I have (got boxes of them  Roll Eyes - yep, justifying those hoarding instincts) and cut them up.  This process took a while, too.  Coz... 13 kids.

I also had a slew of Mentos gum (hooray for coupons!) and made labels for those. These are just printed on paper and taped on.  I found the slime image on deviant art and downloaded a mine craft font (from dafont.com) to write Slime Balls on it.

These would be great on tic-tacs, I think, too! I'm not sure if they can be resized, but you're welcome to give it a go:

I also made potion labels for the drinks.  I saw lots of potion labels online, but made my own based on one that I saw that only had one color of potion.  Well, that wouldn't do!  So I found a mine craft wiki online to get pics of various potions and went from there.

Again, not sure about resizing, but here they are, use them to your heart's content:

A piata for 13 kids will have to hold a LOT of candy and so one of those wimpy store bought deals just wasn't going to cut it.  We were at 2 bday parties just last week where the piata hit the ground before the kids had really begun to get busy with it.  So I found a box, paper mache'd over it for extra strength (and to hide the box seams), then spray painted it.  I also added a little hardware for the rope.  This has worked well for me in the past. (In the pic, the piata has not been taped shut yet.) BTW, if you cut a sleeve off of an old adult men's t-shirt, it will make a great blindfold.  Wink

And then the goody bags.  I found some red paper sacs a little smaller than a standard lunch bag (I'll be using standard lunch bags for the piata, tho) and then used that handy dandy mine craft font and a glue stick to make the TNT labels for them.  I think these are cute and I was so glad to NOT have to draw creepers onto all those goody bags!  Whew! I filled them and taped 'em shut with washi tape.  Oh, and I found those bookmarks online as well - they are two sided!  I just printed, cut, and laminated.  I don't have a pic of all the completed bookmarks but you can find them here: http://grungezombie.net/2014/01/printable-minecraft-bookmarks/

Awesome buttons, UTM!  I bet Lana's class loves that you are her mom, you are always sending fun little goodies for them!

I have a few additions as well!

A couple shirts for my son - his birthday is Friday!

A shirt for moi:

And since my littlest has a birthday on Christmas Eve (he just turned 8 ), we usually have his bday party in the spring, so he's having it on the 28th. He wants a minecraft theme so we've been making goodie bag fodder:

I got a couple lovely cards this week! I love them both, thank you ladies!!

First from spikefan for my plague doctor theme:

And from blupaisan for my dark fairy tales theme:

The story:
The Willful Child
by Jacob and Wilhelm Grimm

Once upon a time, there was a child who was willful and did not do what his mother wanted. For this reason, God was displeased with him and caused him to become ill, and no doctor could help him, and in a short time he lay on his deathbed!

He was lowered into a grave and covered with earth, but his little arm suddenly came forth and reached up and it didn't help when they put it back in and put fresh earth over it, for the little arm always came out again.

So the mother herself had to go to the grave and beat the little arm with a switch, and as soon as she had done that, it withdrew and the child finally came to rest beneath the earth.

Yikes! What a story!  The things they used to tell children to get them to behave!  Shocked
