Wow!  So much awesomeness!  Pinokeeo- you have made so many lovely things for your wedding!  The gourd is so beautiful and I freaking LOVE the cedar cone roses.  Perfect idea for floral arrangements- with feathers, no less!  I hope you will be kind enough to share a few pics of your big day with us.

That1girl, you are so prolific!  It seems like every time I come on here, you've posted umpteen new projects!   Grin

The baby blanket is so pretty - I hope it will go to someone who will appreciate all the love that went into its creation.

Yummy looking donuts, Lindy!  I gain weight just looking at the food pics you post, girl!

Epic ugly sweater, SheepBlue!  I think someday I'd like to have an ugly Christmas sweater party - I think it would be hysterical!

I've been doing a lot of crafting lately, but it's mostly for the 12 Days of Christmas swap, so I'll have to post up later.  I did a count yesterday of what I've already made for my partner, and I only have 3 items to go!  Shocked  I didn't realize I had done so much already!

I did, however, make myself a skirt yesterday.  I've been wanting a lace skirt for a while now and I finally took the time yesterday.  It's just a couple of simple tube skirts (nipped in a little at the waist to avoid extra bulk there) sewn together:

This pic shows the unusual length better.  I quite like it!

Awesome costume idea!  And I also really like that bunting. Super cute!

The notebooks are awesome, QP!  And Zero is adorable!

I whipped up this skirt really quick from a dress I had that was a bit too stretchy in the bodice.  I just cut the skirt off and added some elastic, and ta-dah!  Super comfy skirt.

I made this baby blanket for my Canadian bestie.  I don't remember if I posted it on here yet or not, so if I'm duplicating, forgive me... This blanket gave me the dickens of a time...!

Lana is gorgous, EdelC!

RBR, I really like those towels, and the strawberry is really cute- I liked the story that went along with it as well!

Wow, a 35c paperback -- that IS vintage!!  Shocked  Makes a great notebook and I concur that it definitely works for "evil".

Zero is way cute, and the watercolor owl turned out fabulous!

Project Name: skirt from dress
Project Link: (if available)
Brief Description: I had this gray dress, very comfy and casual, from jersey fabric.  But the top was REALLY stretchy and so keeping my goodies under wraps was a bit challenging.  So I whacked the skirt off, put some elastic on it, and voila!  Almost instant skirt!  Super comfy and casual.  Makes me look huge, but I'm comfortable.  So there.  Cheesy

Brief Description: I made this cowl for a personal swap with lindyv321. The yarn was so smooshy and soft and delicious... it will be hard to give away but Lindy's awesome and I think she'll like it.

Project Name: Thorn in my Side Baby Quilt
Project Link: http://www.craftster.org/forum/index.php?topic=440584.msg5335727#msg5335727
Brief Description: This is for a child, which falls under Isis' domain.  I've been working on this quilt for a while. My Canadian bestie  is having a baby and I decided I needed to make her a quilt.  I bought the minky backing fabric over a month ago, and was planning to use this really cute vintage-style fabric for the top.  And of course, when it was time to finally begin the project, I could not find that fabric ANYWHERE.  And I SWEAR I had seen it just a few days prior.  After several frustrating hours of tearing apart my stash, I gave up and went the next day and bought the cotton I used for the top.  Of course, then I had to exchange the binding, coz the one I'd previously purchased was now the wrong color for the new quilt top. *sigh*  So after the fabric had been washed and dried (if it was going to shrink, I'd prefer it do so BEFORE  I sew it), I cut it out and marked the quilt lines on top with a dressmakers chalk that broke about 5 times.  Roll Eyes  Then I pin basted it and left it alone for a few days coz it was making me cranky.  So, on to tonight.  I moved my sewing machine to the kitchen table coz while I love my craft room, there's not enough room in there to sew a quilt, even if it's just a baby one.  I dug thru my thread stash, found some gray thread and off I went.  When the bobbin ran out, I refilled it and discovered that somehow that simple act had mucked up my tension so after ripping out a row of stitching and fiddling, I was underway again. Then I ran out of the gray thread altogether, but thankfully found a spool in my vintage thread stash and decided that my friend was worth sacrificing some of my vintage thread for.  Actually, it was more of just being too lazy to go to the store for more of the other stuff.  Wink  So quilting finished, I moved on to the binding.  I discovered that binding is NOT a strength for me.  I need LOTS of practice to perfect that art, and since this little guy is due to join us any day, I just don't have that kind of time.  So I'm calling it, and mailing it out by Monday at the latest.

Yeah, that was a long description, but I thought you should know why it was a thorn in my side. Ha! Grin

166  Wherein B1K makes a baby quilt, and discovers that binding sucks in Crafty Housewares: Completed Projects: General by bunny1kenobi on: September 03, 2015 09:44:15 PM
My Canadian bestie is about to have a little boy and so I determined that I should make her a quilt.  I chose a cute cotton top and a minky backing, and a satin binding.  I was a bit nervous about the binding part, so I watched a bunch of tutorials that made it look pretty simple, so I was excited to try these new (well, new to ME) binding methods.

Here's the quilt cut out, marked and pin-basted:

A close up of the cute print (and some apparently wonky quilting):

The final result:

Notice that I'm only displaying a corner of the minky backing.  Did I mention that binding sucks?  Maybe it's just MY binding... Roll Eyes

Perhaps I just need more practice to perfect my binding skills, but it's not going to happen today.  Being as this little guy could come any day, I'm calling it done and getting it in the mail asap.

We will be having a monthly contest during the Fall Battles, just to keep things a bit more interesting.  Anyone who  might wish to donate a Wordy prize for the contest is welcome to do so.  PM me if you'd like to participate!  Just keep in mind these guidelines:
~We absolutely do not wish to overshadow the Season Raffle, so these will be SMALL items, smaller than the raffle items would be.  Think "zaps".
~We do have international members on our Team, and if you are wishing to donate a prize, shipping said prize to the winner is part of the donation, so again, small is a good idea.
~If I already have prizes lined up by the time I hear from you, please don't be offended.  If this little incentive is well- received, we may keep it going for subsequent seasons.  Either way, I'm sure other opportunities will present themselves.

All Team Wordy members who complete all five main prompt challenges this month will be entered into a drawing for this cute Wordy tropical flavored lip balm! (Those are books on the label - photographing a surface with that much curve is a challenge!!)

Congratulations, Gozer!  She was the only Team Wordy member to complete all 5 September prompts within the month!

I have a couple things to add:

Made this for my MIL for Christmas:

And I made this for a prize in the Summer Nerd Games:

If you are enjoying this craftalong, you may also like the Nerd Games (or Battles, as they are often called).  The Fall season will be starting in September, so feel free to pick your favorite team and join us for the upcoming season!  You may find some great inspiration for new projects! Check out what we've been doing this summer here:

169  Nerdy book pendant in Trinkets and Jewelry: Completed Projects: General by bunny1kenobi on: August 27, 2015 12:10:20 PM
The Summer Nerd Games are drawing to a close, and I made this necklace as a prize for my team (Wordy) to give to a member of another team who helped us out with points by crafting a Wordy Team Spirit prompt this summer (random drawing).

It has a leather cover, and the pages inside are blank.  This could absolutely be used as a teeny notebook for reminders, notes, phone numbers... what have you.

Even though the Games are almost over for the Summer, the Fall Nerd Battles will be gearing up soon!  So feel free to check out the Nerd Games thread to see how we roll and join your favorite Nerd team for the next season!   Grin
