1  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Quilting Stencils on: June 03, 2012 10:59:23 AM
Hi there,

I am making my first quilt, and am ready to start the actual quilting process, I picked up some quilting stencils, but I am wondering if they are for machine quilting or if I should do them by hand. I have a butterfly stencil, a small heart border stencil, and a iris stencil. There are some tiny curves in them so I have no idea what would be best to do here.

Thanks in advance for any help!

2  QUILTING / Quilting: Discussion and Questions / Re: New at Quilting - How to Quilt with a regular sewing machine? on: October 03, 2011 06:44:33 PM
Awesome, thanks for the tips.
So should I always tape a business card over the feed dogs when quilting then?

And the machine came with a darning foot, I have no idea what it does though, but that's the fun of learning. I will most definitely be making a test swatch...several test swatches actually.

I am still cutting out the pieces, but once I start cutting I am sure that I will be back here with more questions.

Thanks again for the help.

Hi there,

I am about to start my first quilting project. I am making "supposedly" easy quilted placemats.
I have a regular sewing machine, a Singer Fashion Mate, and its feed dogs do not lower so I am thinking that I might have to do hand quilting?

Any tips here would be greatly appreciated, and make my life easier.

Thanks,

-Christine
