261  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / inchies, progress & completed pics on: January 02, 2008 04:32:21 AM
These first ones are for the Inchies Exchange swap I'm in. I had to create 50 and it took me a few days to get them done, though I worked on them obsessively Roll Eyes Take a look at the in progress pics. These little guys are so much fun to make!

There are more finished inchies throughout these pages as I'm updating this thread when I create more.

My first set...

Progress shots:

Preparing the backgrounds using watercolours

Adding more watercolour details

Some ink work and stamps added

And then the final pencil crayon and ink details added

I was going to use wax crayons also as I like to use them a lot, but they were just too clumsy for the diddy squares.

I hope my swap partners will like these!
262  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / A relaxing holiday tipple! on: December 21, 2007 08:09:49 AM
In the form of tea, the best drink ever! Grin (ahem, besides red wine...and real ale... Roll Eyes) Okay, so best hot drink ever!

I've made these up to put in with friends handmade gift bags for the holidays. The best thing is (besides tasting yummy) that they're organic and fairtrade Grin

I've called them 'traffic light tea' because of the colours of the wrappings and properties of the tea.
Red: to drink before a night out to revitalise
Amber: to drink the next morning to cleanse and detox
Green: to drink after it's all over to cool and relax till next year!

I think they look pretty cute bundled up in their little matchbook pile, and they were pretty easy to make. What do you think?
263  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Christmas Pudding Earrings on: November 27, 2007 05:12:55 AM
I made some pumpkin felted bead earrings for Halloween
and my bloke suggested that I tried to make puddings when I was asking around for Christmas themed things I could make with felted balls. So I bought some chocolate and cherry roving off Loves2experiment in the Shop The Swap erm swap, and here they are!

This is what a real Christmas pudding looks like...

And my variation in felt...

They're so light to wear. I think I'm going to have to make these for all my relatives now! Cheesy
264  JEWELRY AND TRINKETS / Beads: Completed Projects / Holiday beading on: November 25, 2007 06:04:44 AM
I decided that everyone was getting some jewellery as part of their holiday gift this year, so these are some of the gifts. Photographed in the strange light that we have today.

Actually this eclectic one is for me to wear to parties. I wear a lot of black so I thought this would be a nice change, and I love strange and random bead selections! The inspiration for this came from the smaller strand which I got from laughingLark in one of the STS swaps. It has a small, medium and large bead strand which can be worn so they're separate or twisted together.

And of course not everyone has such a random sense of style so I made the rest tailored to the recipient.

For my Mum: green glass and shell

For friends:

I made a few variations on these for more friends, but they're similar to these just different colours.

And the bags I made that they're going to be given in...

I hope they like them!
265  IMAGE REPRODUCTION TECHNIQUES / Stenciling: Discussion and Questions / Printing on cork? on: November 24, 2007 10:26:32 AM
This is a new (ad)venture for me as I don't normally do much printing. My question is, can you print on cork? I have a pack of cork coasters I bought from IKEA and I want to print some black images onto them using sticky back plastic for the stencil. I have ink for paper and for fabric. Anyone know if this will work? I was thinking that the cork might be too porous so I may need to paint an acrylic paint layer before the stencil, but I'm not sure.

Also any tips for sealing them once they've been printed? I have some acrylic paint varnish but I'm not sure if that's the best thing to use. Undecided

Thanks in advance for any advice you can give! Smiley
266  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: General / Peas on Earth Cards on: November 18, 2007 05:45:08 AM
I have made these for my friends and family for Christmas, though they'd be an appropriate sentiment all year long. Smiley

I was inspired by an old Welsh map I had in my paper stash, and my love of peas! Wink I remember seeing a t-shirt years ago using this idea and decided it'd be the perfect idea for my Christmas cards. This is one I made using the map...

Then I found an old A-Z of the area where I grew up and where many of my family and friends still live so I was inspired to make the earth for each card an area where they live, have lived, or of sentimental note to them. I've made up 12 so far, this is how they came out...

(sadly it's not a good day for nice bright pictures Roll Eyes)

They're on their pea-ish green envelopes Cheesy

I can't decide if I should add hearts to these or not, I think I probably should, though it hides some of the street names. What do you think?

or without?

Sorry the pics are so poor Undecided
267  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / B&W Portraits on: October 12, 2007 08:03:46 AM
These have either been painted for my bloke or for the wonderful peeps in the Shop the Swap. All acrylic on canvas, varying sizes.

Bob Dylan for Mojo

Lana for Atsuko

Mia for Lasandri (there is also a triptych in progress for her too)

For my bloke Jimi Hendrix

And Ginger from The Wildhearts (his fav band, painted for his birthday on Sunday) complete with spine mic stand Cheesy

And not B&W but in the same style, Mr Tom Skeleton (it's a portrait of a skeleton I own)

Phew! It's nice to see them all in one place Smiley
268  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Bragas! on: October 07, 2007 06:06:12 AM
Otherwise known as knickers, pants, panties, undies, underpants...

I am not in a sensible mood today so I thought I'd paint some pants! Cheesy

Acrylic on cotton canvas.

I'm not telling which ones I went for! Wink
269  Halloween / Halloween Decor and Parties / Pumpkin Earings on: September 07, 2007 07:36:05 AM
I came across some orange felt balls which I'd made a few months ago with the intention of making some Halloween related jewellery, but I must have run out of inspiration. Last night I was inspired again, dug them out and voila! Pumpkin earings!

I'd make a tute but I think they're so easy you can probably work it out Cheesy

I love that they have the brown 'stubby' embroidery thread bit at the bottom.

Bring on Halloween! Grin
270  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Crafty at heart on: August 31, 2007 06:41:43 AM
This is a piece that I have created for Alteredmommy since she is being fantastic and sending me some fabric for a project. She asked for a bright piece of art for her workroom...I hope this fits the bill.

I was stenciling this voodoo heart image from Stencilry onto the back of one of my shirts to cover an ink splotch when it occurred to me that it looked like a paint splotch itself. So the main heart image was from the centre stencil, painted with watercolours. Recycling as well as inspiration! I loved the circles on the ends of the tendrils so I used patterned papers and watercolours, felt circles, thread and buttons to make more circles. Since this is destined for a workroom I tried to make it crafty! Grin

Sorry the photo isn't as sharp I would have wanted it.

Edited to add slightly clearer picture but with a little flash... Undecided

I hope you like it Alteredmommy! (and you said you weren't going to look! Wink)
