11  POTTERY, CERAMICS, POLYMER CLAY / Pottery, Ceramics, etc: Completed Projects / Zombie Arm Ring Holder on: April 01, 2015 03:12:05 AM
After some recent surgery I can't wear my rings at the moment (boo!) so I wanted to create something cool to display them on. Zombies are all the rage at the moment, so I knew I wanted to use them in my inspiration.

Voila, zombie arm!

Lots of paints in layers to alter this ceramic arm so it looks like the flesh is rotting and the wound has been ripped open to reveal the bones...that screams jewellery to me! Wink

Grr! Stay safe out there! Grin
12  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Gypsy Caravan on: February 16, 2015 01:55:17 PM
A travelling home in miniature! I've always wanted to go travelling around the country in my own wooden caravan just like this one, so I've decorated and filled it ready for my travels. Of course there's a teapot at the ready for lots of cups of tea! My gran was brilliant at tealeaf reading, I really must make time to learn.

13  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Winter Ski Clock on: January 07, 2015 03:03:29 PM
I was commissioned to alter a clock to a snow/winter/ski theme. It was to be her Christmas gift from her husband. She brought me the clock and it was no longer working and had seen better days, poor thing! She wanted it to be decorative, "in your style" and to include a scene inside. I wanted to create the perfect keepsake of her ski trips, so I set about giving it a new lease of life!

The best thing is that I was able to buy some parts and fix the clock so it now works! Useful and decorative! Cheesy

A peek inside. In the door is her favourite restaurant on the slopes...

Inside scene

I used some of her piste maps for the walls, and some other ephemera she had given me. I made a little ski lodge and wooded areas, and a wooden crate to hold some leather bound books I created from the rest of the piste maps.

Some of my favourite quotes and details from the outside...

And here's what it looked like when I'd only just started on it

I was so thrilled when she told me just how much she loved it! Smiley
14  OCCASIONS AND HOLIDAYS / Winter Holidays / Taped-up Cards on: December 04, 2014 06:06:41 AM
I bought this fabulous packaging tape for wrapping my gifts this year, and since I love the characters so much I thought it would be fun to make coordinating cards too!

I bought this tape from James Ward jimbobart on etsy. His characters are the cutest!

I snipped the tape up and used an ink pen to draw the fancy edging, and here they are as postage stamps...

15  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Altered Jigsaw Curio Decorations on: December 04, 2014 05:36:10 AM
I'm putting together a Victorian Parlour in a steampunk/curio style next week for a gallery exhibition. I decided that since it's December it should have some seasonal elements to it so I've been making appropriate themed decorations for a Christmas tree. Hence, puzzle pieces! Cheesy

16  MISCELLANEOUS TOPICS / Completed Projects / Merit Badges on: November 20, 2014 07:01:35 AM
I have a monthly altered book workshop. Some people drop in to try it every once in a while and I start them off so they can continue at home, and others come every month to do the different themes. They don't know it yet but those people will have attained their altered book merit badges next month Grin I just need to make a little certificate now to go with the rosette brooches.

I purchased the scissors badges from www.waggonswest.etsy.com as a custom order and then added the sari silk and tape measure to make them more 'me' Cheesy

I'm hoping they will be surprised and love them!
17  Category Challenges / Occasions and Holidays: Challenge Entries / Grinning Pumpkin on: November 02, 2014 04:35:45 PM
This is my wee pumpkin. Mine seem to be getting wider grins and more teeth every year.

I like to think that he'd have some kind of evil raspy cackle.

Carved the old fashioned way...kinda...with a grapefruit spoon and a grapefruit knife! Cheesy

18  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Paper Crafts: Completed Projects: Reconstructed / Autumnal Altered Book on: October 27, 2014 04:42:50 PM
I created this book inspired by my lovely swap partner with autumnal and Buddhist elements.

I bought a child's board book and removed the top layer before painting the backgrounds and going wild with collage Grin

I loved using these autumn colours!
19  MORE ART, LESS CRAFT / More Art, Less Craft: Completed Works / Fishing Boat Watercolour on: October 20, 2014 04:00:53 PM
I created this little watercolour painting for my dad's 70th birthday. His initials and age make up the name of the boat. We were due to travel to Greece together a couple of weeks ago but my mum was ill so we went on our own. I was hoping to pick a boat that my dad had liked, so I just had to go with my choice instead Cheesy

20  PAPER CRAFTS, SCRAPBOOKING & ATCs (ARTIST TRADING CARDS) / Artist Trading Cards (ATCs) / Journey - ATC on: September 10, 2014 10:11:33 AM
I've not made an ATC for a while, but a local gallery has started setting up a swap to coincide with their gallery themes, the most recent one being Journey, so I created this...

It wasn't till after I'd finished that I saw the connection between the card that I'd used, a 7, and that it was a Severn Valley Railway ticket Cheesy I like that the ticket number ends in a 7 too, another great coincidence, because I have two tickets and randomly chose this one.
