I've been hording pairs of black jeans for years thinking I would one day combine them and create one great pair from them, so when I saw this challenge I knew it was a sign!
I didn't wear any of the 4 pairs anymore so to get a pair I'll wear all the time was an achievement!
Here's how they turned out...
The pair I used for the base fit me great but were really, really long and I got bored of the turn-ups. The 3 other pairs had great elements on them or texture, and I used a little bit off a grey top I didn't wear any more.
Jeans mash up!
I started cutting out some of the details I liked from the other jeans and sewing them on.
Then I cut off one of the legs to a better length. I used some of the waistband and closure of another pair to create a new cuff.
I also attached part of the fabric from the same pair of jeans up to the knee on the same side, and added some detail with little X's. This took forever!
Here's how the top of the patch looks, and also some detail I started adding on the other leg. Just a crazy patchwork.
...and more stitching!
I wanted to create some more texture so I shredded a small area with a knife to patch under and stitch back on.
I also painted some household bleach details on.
I wasn't sure what to do with the other turn-up, I quite liked them different, but in the end I used the rest of the waistband to finish that one off.
And voila! One pair of black jeans that I'll actually wear
I think I'll be working on these for a while. I tend to sew them while I'm wearing them and bored
Thanks for looking!
