Manly and cool, eh? I'm sure...I think I can pull it off though (it just means a bit of trial and error on my part). Procrastination has been set in over this journal and record bowl process, but I'm good as long as I get something for him within the first while back from break. Thanks for your suggestions, Haylie.
That's a good idea. His birthday was yesterday, but I still have yet to give him something for that or Christmas. I won't see him for another two weeks because he's in Hawaii, but I'm on my way to thinking of things. Also, we decided to have a surprise party for him but that would have been last night. Since he left, we have to wait basically for another three weeks when we have everyone together, but I know he'll still appreciate it. I think journal it is, though, and I'll do a record bowl (sort of like the picture...thanks for that) and fill it with random things.
PS Yay. So we're finally not just friends anymore. I know you have no reason to know this, but we're finally together...only now I have to wait for another two weeks until he comes back. Sad, no? ANYWAYS, thanks for your input...
Okay, so, we were talking in summer (this is when we became really good friends) and I said that the only person who said Happy Birthday to me besides my parents on my birthday was him. He replied that no one said happy birthday to him on his and that he's never really had a birthday party except when he was 12 and living on a boat (which ended up happening for 4 1/5 years...but that's even more unrelated...).
So, random reminincsing aside, I decided to change that. I've looked at all of the guy friend posts, but none of them quite fit, so I'm sorry that I'm taking up post space, but I feel it's for a good cause.
He'll be seventeen on the fourteenth of December, so I thought I'd do something bigger then and give him something small for Christmas like I do with all of my friends.
He's really into climbing and biking (awesome at them too), is a little bit of a science nerd (helps having him around since I'm the literary nerd and vice versa), he's into music (Ozomatli, Papa Roach, Pink Floyd, Green Day, etc.) and plays instruments, but with how our music program works, he doesn't really stick with anything long...except maybe piano...He's extremely self-reflective and introspective, but not artsy or anything like me. We don't see each often so even though it's a small school we have to stay in touch. We write letters every once in while and actually talk about pretty deep things. He's basically just a simple guy and into simple things. Oh, and not like this applies whatsoever, but he's colorblind and a pyromaniac.
Last Christmas (I had no idea it was his birthday then...we were more like aquaintances) I crocheted him a dark blue iPod cozy. Other than that, I haven't really given him gifts. I was thinking of doing something simple for him (can't be a mixed tape though, because he already has all of his music and whatnot and I'm not such a musical person) and all I've come up with is a journal (which doesn't exactly work because he never has any time...). I have a bunch of records and was thinking about a record bowl, but the curvy edges actually seems a bit too decorated for him.
Augh. That was sort of a long post...Sorry about that. Any ideas?
