101  NEEDLEWORK / Needlework: Completed Projects / Re: Doggie Portrait in Embroidery on: July 24, 2005 05:38:22 PM
WOW!

Did you draw those out first, or did you just start stitching?
I'm intrigued on the process.
102  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: My first sweater (baby size) on: July 24, 2005 05:29:48 PM
This was a really good way to go,
1. small size makes one feel better about the pacing and within a week or so, you can have a finish project even if you are slow
2. squares are nice and not scary

I think it would be better if you actually have a child around or have seen one to gauge sizes (I'm afraid the arms will be wrong).

I just knitted this in squares, then seamed it up.  I'm not sure on the yarn.  The top was something cheap and soft from Micheals, the other was a speciality yarn from the LYS that I got for my birthday.   This was also my first attempt at making button holes, and I was quite happy with the way they turned out.

Here it is modeled on the closest thing to a baby in my apartment.

This was my practice doing a satin stitch.  I got the pattern from a Dover Thrift Book of Transfer Patterns I found at Hastings.

Thanks for looking!

We must do this, for the good of our souls.

Miniture hand chairs anybody?

First bit of embroidery I've ever done.  First in a series of course; I think she is rather cute, almost like she is chewing on her hair, or starting to eat her hat.

The pattern comes from the dollar patterns from Hobby Lobby.

107  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Too darn hot... on: July 22, 2005 10:24:52 PM
So I had to make a tiny snow quilt.  It helps keep the mind off the high 90s.

Enjoy the wonkiness of my tiny quilting (it is about 6 inches long)!
