Does it dry well?  I love the knitted dishclothes - but as a towel?
2  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Powerful Polka Dot on: August 10, 2010 11:15:59 AM
I have a magazine with a polkadot quilt on it ... was about to start it tonight, but, like you it will be my first applique.  EVER.  How easy did you find it?  Any tips or advice for a newbie?

And ... yours IS better than the magazine.  Great job! Smiley
3  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: my purple quilt.. a first for me on: August 10, 2010 11:12:30 AM

4  QUILTING / Quilting: Completed Projects / Re: Funky Floral Towel Quilt Perfect for the Beach on: August 10, 2010 11:11:41 AM
Lol - saw this title and returned to the page because it was such a great idea - then I noticed I already posted.  I still think its brilliant - and STILL have to make a trip to the second hand store before the Summer ends.  Wink

Worth posting twice.  And I love the colour choices - who knew those tacky towels my mother probably tossed because I didn't want in my posh-place when I was young could have been useful.

Type them.  Get your hands on a typewriter, type them on wax or parchment paper.  The worse thing that will happen is that they will get chewed.

Wow - This is awesome!  I'm stopping tonight at a thrift store!

8  KNITTING / Knitting: Completed Projects / Re: recycled t-shirt dishcloths! on: February 23, 2010 12:24:27 PM
The dishclothes are brilliant!  I keep trying to think of other used for the t-shirt yarn but I'm so astounded by dishclothes that I can't.  Smiley

I have a placemat under my dogs food and water dish - this would be better, nicer, and more of a 'homey' look, using knitted t-shirts.

I like the idea of a bag knitted from this.  It would be fairly stiff when it was dry, wouldn't it?  And strong, I would think ... hmmm ... how many t-shirts do I want to get rid of ... Wink
9  Halloween / Halloween Costumes / Re: what to call myself? on: October 29, 2009 01:50:40 PM
Gothika in Wonderland, Alice of Gothland ... something where Alice in Wonderland collides with GothWorld. Smiley  This is awesome!
10  COOKING / Recipes and Cooking Tips / Re: Tried and true recipes....for kids?? HELP!? Please? :) on: October 14, 2009 12:42:09 PM
Last minute meal ideas for kids?  BREAKFASTS.  My boys will pretty much eat everything (I'm in fact worried about the utensils and dishes these days ... strapping HUNGRY lads of 12 and 14 playing football and Dangerous Biking and skateboarding ... funny how suddenly nothing tastes YUCKY ...).

BUT - they help out, and will start meals with EGGS.  For dinner, we will eat:
Peach Pancakes (if I have peaches - or frozen blueberries, whatever is on hand)
French Toast
Omelettes with onions, green peppers, leftover lunch meat or ANY meat - and of course lots of cheese.  They make their own - which is nice, because if they WERE fussy, they can pick and choose.

Also ...
Nachoes are a hit - sometimes I'll do up the meat the night before.
Soups - but let them ADD things.  One of our favourites is called 'Chowder'.  Mushroom soup, but we add cheddar and tuna and eat with fresh bread.
Veggie soup, but we add more veggies, beans, noodles.  Whatever is on hand.

Single-Mom-ism is hard on the budget, but one wonderful advantage is a Teen and Pre-Teen who know how to cook.  Smiley
